What amazes me is the difference in Gable, both in physique and technique, between that loss and his Olympic run. I think it's night and day. I know that it is a different era, but there was a lot of bad position, by Owings and Gable, in that match. Then to go unscored upon by the worlds elite staying in good position>

In 1970 at 142lbs Larry Owings upset Dan Gable in the NCAAs. It was Gable's only loss in High School and College. This loss still haunts Dan Gable today even though he says it helped him to be a world champion and Olympic Champion.
