The Throwback Thursdays weekly match should be featured ESPN Classics Thursday through Tuesday from 8pm to 8:10pm. Kids all across America would be saying, "aww, Mom, 6 more minutes... the first period just started, then I will go to bed I promise."
Come on ESPN step up and ask Flo to help you out...
well then they would need about 20 more minutes of other stuff involving wrestling, espn would never commit to a weekly or daily wrestling show. they have bowling and billiards instead

I love how these Brands brothers were trained to score points. Sure, we know them to be bruisers, conditioning freaks, mental giants, etc, but above all that, they wrestled to score points, period. Great lesson for the new generation at all levels including coaches. Teach your wrestlers to SCORE SCORE SCORE, do not sit on leads, do not adopt defensive styles, do not dive off the mat defending leg attacks. SCORE SCORE SCORE! And when you think you or your wrestler has scored enough, SCORE MORE, KEEP ATTACKING! This, above all else, is what made the Brands such crowd pleasing wrestlers, the brutality of their style, their constant motor, and their constant drive to score points.

That's a freshman just beating down a junior with one loss. Watch Gable bouncing all over the place in the background. He's still rocking at that point too. Just awesome stuff.

it would be great NOT to give the outcome of the match away. i would like to watch the match and find out who wins that way instead of reading about it next to the video.

That was the first Iowa meet I ever saw at Carver Hawkeye. Brought back good childhood memories. 8:24 - 8:42 is vintage Iowa/Brands beat-down wrestling.

126lbs - Tom Brands vs. Kendall Cross - 1989 Iowa vs. Oklahoma State Dual Brands wins 19-9

Tom Brands majors Kendal Cross in a dominant fashion as Cross went on to win the national title this year at 126 pounds. Cross defeated Michael Stokes in the finals 5-2 and Brands took 4th to the defending national champion Jim Martin PENN.

I guess its not how you start but how you finish.
