John Hughes helped me during a Granby camp in VA back in '96. I asked him how he got so strong and got his neck so big, he showed me some neck workouts and I did them every day.

Summer of '97 I broke my neck drilling throws at a wrestling camp. Finished the camp, got OW and "Most Dedicated Wrestler" awards. In the car on the way home I started getting numb, had to go to the hospital. Docs said if my neck wasn't so big and strong I would've gotten paralyzed or even died.
John Hughes was my biggest motivation and help as far as getting my neck strong.
Even now, I'm still training. John Hughes is the man!

I heard a funny story in college. Maybe John can clarify. On a recruiting trip to UNC, he and his brother had a lunch with Coach Lam. After pleasantries, Coach Lam asked him how his night went in Chapel Hill. And either John or Russ replied, "after tagging your wife, it went fairly well." To which - as the story goes, Coach Lam put them on a plane back to PA. I laughed uncontrollably when I heard the story- not many people get Northeast humor.
