Coach Santoro is the best of the best. In my 46 years in this sport I have never met a finer person in our sport. I'll bet in a couple years he has Lehigh tapping on the NCAA Top 5 door. A great wrestler, a great coach, and a great friend. Hey coach, give your guys off the entire week before Nov.9th...they'll appreciate it and I know I would also.

Santoro had a remarkable ability to get arm bars, which he used to dominate Sean O Day in the finals. O Day won later, and he was a fair stud hiimself, so how Santoro repeatedly got those is something I'd like to ask him. C'mon Pat and give us a mini technique lesson on how to come up with those against the best guys. :)

actually, pat, didn't cut much weight. he was pretty skinny. he was the only guy i knew that never put on a plastic suit and ran around in a sauna. he was pretty much a natural 142. also probably the most humble, modest guy you'll ever meet.

Well, he wrestled 142 back in the late 1980s and I am sure he was sucking good weight to get there. He looks great and I am quite sure he could still tear a few guys to pieces these days! What a fierce competitor he was. Great memories, thanks Pat!

Pat Santoro goes down as one of my favorite collegiate wrestlers to watch of all time. I had a chance to watch him in person in a duel meet back in the 80s and he was every bit as tenacious as I ever saw him in videos or on the national stage at the NCAAs. For those who never got a chance to watch Pat Santoro wrestle, he literally was a ball of energy using relentless head slaps (legal) to attack the legs and just never stopped attacking until the 7 minutes were finished. I also enjoyed watching him tear Sean O'Day to pieces to claim his first NCAA Title then the following year edge out Junior (Townsend) Saunders on criteria to claim Title #2 and I believe he would finish that season 45 or 50-0 if I recall correctly. What a phenomenal wrestler and how amazing to hear that he only went to the state tourney once and placed third. For all the kids out there who never achieve those "commonplace" 3 or 4 state titles everybody hears about these days, college is the arena where you can truly elevate yourself if you are willing to pay the hard price which Pat Santoro was obviously willing to pay. Great video!
