Great match Guru, I'm definitly going to look for some more video of Yong-Sik. Also, I'm wondering if Anotoli Beloglazov and Jordanov ever wrestled? I'm not asking you to post a match, but just wondering because Anotoli came third in the world championships the first year Jordanov won (1983).

If it was a Borat look alike contest, the dude in red would have won hands down. Great front headlock by the Iranian, but better overall neutral by the North Korean.

Made me wanna wrestle freestyle late in the summer. NICE! Mohammadian's lock doesn't clip at 3:58 could have been a different match Kim was ready to go.

Great match craig! Kim's reaction time after his stutter step is amazing.

Do you have any of Rick Sanders matches? He (and also Satiev) have the most entertaining styles to me. They hit all sorts of unorthodox moves and make it look so easy.

Excellent commentary Craig and a fine match. The chanting crowd gives a great backdrop for the match. You have featured some of the greatest wrestling technician's in the world: John Smith; Adam Saitiev, and Sergei Beloglazov. I like this guy's technique. I wonder if film is available on some of my other favorites, in their freestyle performance, like Wade Schalles or Yoshiro Uetake.

You do a great job on your site and your work is well appreciated.

Well, what we have here is probably one of the greatest par terre wrestlers to have ever lived in Kim Yong Sik of North Korea. Long and lanky and quick on his feet, Yong Sik was able to turn everyone in the world with his hip tilts. He'd start with like a switch position and pull you onto his leg so that you were almost sitting in his lap. Once he had that secure he'd go ahead and attack your far wrist for a cross wrist tilt series. Your hips would be in the air and your arm would be trapped. Nothing could save you. He'd take you to the side or straight over the top and rack up 4-6 points out of this one combination.

His other funky move was the fake to one side then low single to the other. He hits mohammadian a few times with it in this bout. Very defensive stance with great timing. You'll notice the last attack I believe he hit a studder step and as Mohammadian reacted and came out of his stance for a moment, Yong Sik was in on his legs scoring the takedown. This guy was a master at his craft.

Up until recently Yong Sik was the youngest World Champion in history winning the the 1986 Worlds at only 19 years old. He won Junior Worlds in July and then won the Senior Worlds in October, beating 2x World Champ at the time Valentin Jordanov en route to the finals where he blitzed veteran and eventual Olympic Champion Mitsuro Sato of Japan.

Mohammadian was no slouch. He litterally burst onto the International scene at the 1988 Olympics and gave Sergei Beloglazov all he could handle in the finals about. He had 2 down years and then moved up a weight and landed in the finals in Barcelona against John Smith in a great bout.

Anyway, Enjoy.
