for those who want to know more info on these wrestlers, batirov beat dudaev last year in the russian nationals after alan beat the younger batirov. thus Mavlet went on to the 08 olympics where he won his second gold medal.

Pretty sure there's a Dudaev vs Quintana match on youtube (world finals) but I can't find it.

oh really twice in one year, thats impressive. now this is a little off topic but i figured you would know, the second match between gia and kendall cross at the 97 world cup where kendall beat him again, what was the score?

Makes sense. The Aliev tournament is held in Dagestan, where Batirov is from. Dudaev is Ossetian.

Man, the crowd really wanted Mavlet Batirov to win.

No Dudaev also beat him in the finals of Russian Nationals that year. In fact Dudaev won the first period after losing the coin toss on the clinch (giving up the leg). Dudaev went on to win the Worlds.

Yeah, they're great, but does anyone else think we need some kind of rule in international wrestling to penalize stalling? What some call "great defense," others call stalling. Dudaev is master of both, in my opinion.

Dudaev is a master of keeping his elbows real tight to his side which is a key to his defense. I taped a match of him wrestling Jesse Jantzen where he hits one of his patented chest locks. There are Cadet & Junior level athletes that I know studying and practicing the techniques they see in these matches and throwing around the names of these international all-time greats. Thanks for sharing Craig and showing these young men and their coaches the best of the best!

I'd like to see all of them but would like to see Barry Davis and Charlie Heard. Heard was from Georgia as I am and I never got to see him wrestle in his prime.

I agree... Dudaev can scramble like no other. Do you know what the all time series was between these two?

I chose this match because there aren't too many out there with Batirov losing. This is a great match with a lot of action in the second period. The first period was just ok. Dudaev's defense is unreal.
