It's an outside leg hi c, different from your typical penetration step. I want to post matches from all weights. I posted this match because of the way Murtazaliev moves. Most light heavies don't move like this guy. He wrestles like a lightweight.

I'm partial to smaller guys too so they'll be more of those in the future, but I wanted to try and cover all weights for now.

Craig, these guys are so big, I can't relate. As far as technique, i see a knee sliding hi-c. Not exactly mindblowing technique. Go back to the lil guys.

No, no relation. Murtazaliev is not an uncommon surname in Dagestan.

murtazaliev is sooo slick... he gets in so deep and so fast on those high crotches that Kurtanidze has no time to react. I doubt that Kurtanidze has lost a lot of matches that badly,

Any relation to the 74 kg mutrazaliev wrestling now?

Ha! They're fixing the sign that dude got pushed through :). That's a real lopsided score for two people with similar credentials.

And we all thought Metcalf invented the extra push off the mat.

These guys move like guys half there weight. Especially the Russian. That guy in unbelievable.

This week I am choosing the 97 kg prelim bout at the 2000 European Championships featuring Russia's Sagid Murtazaliev and Georgia's Eldari Kurtanidze.

Murtazaliev was a World and Olympic Champion for Russia and Kurtanidze was a 2 x World Champion for Georgia.

It's a great bout. Kurtanidze is real strong and doesn't make many mistakes. Murtazaliev is another one of those guys who has that "feel" for wrestling and certainly doesn't move around and wrestle like a light heavyweight.
Watch for the set ups Murtazaliev uses to get Kurtanidze out of position to set up his high crotch attacks.

BTW nice defense by Murtazaliev ~ 4:50 mark.
