Pete Yozzo did not get the outstanding wrestler of the state tournmanment; Dan Mayo did. Review your history sir before you post your face to it.

These guys are great.....but they are stretching the truth either by accident or they just forgot. But if they are going to go on flo and give the history of LI Wrestling at least get ur facts right. I thought they were going to say Yozzo wrestled in nationals with a broken leg....next....no maybe it was with a teammate tied to his back or maybe it was the time he wrestled two guys at once at the Huntington Dual Meet Tournament in a snowstorm but the heat was broken and it was 105 in the gym and he forgot his singlet and wrestled in street clothes and his adidias superstars shelltoes (circa 1982).

Peter Yozzo was my counselor at camp. A kid asked him how he got so good.....he said "My Dad was a coach but......I was born with talent"

I would have to agree that Pete was one of the sllckest ever - he came to my HS to practice over thankgiving his senior year and i practiced with him for two days - I also have a pricture of the War Memorial floor showing all mats sometime on Saturday of 1983 States and in the center mat is Pete cutting his guy.

Pete only placed in the state tournament his senior year.... Hurt his back and didn't wrestle his soph year in league or county tourn.... had to default out of the state tournament after his first match his jr year because of a torn calf muscle.... won it all as a senior.... should have ben OW... won his final match something like 24-6.... giving up all points by cutting his opponent.... I was one of Petes HS coaches.... so I'm fairly certain of these facts....

He's talking about freestyle Junior Nationals. It's not the folkstyle Senior Nationals format.14 matches is possible.

14 matches with only 104 kids? How did that happen? Even if he had a pigtail match in a 128-man bracket, the winner would only have 7 matches.
