You guys should have seen Ray back in the day...he did some sick stuff. The only thing I wonder is how come he looks 10 years older than I do even though we are the same age.

Ray Brinzer, Teague Moore, Jake Herbert all from the same high school. Anyone remember the St. Eds vs North Alleghany dual? Someone somewhere has it on tape and should post it here. Legendary.
I remember it, that is the meet where Alan Fried moved up a weight and got hammered by Rich Catalano.

The system Ray speaks of was being implemented under Mike Houck and Bruce Burnett. When they where the USA developmental coaches These two traveled the country and put massive hours into a SYSTEM of wrestling, and look at our olympic results under there tutledge. They were American men with a tremendous amount of pride. at the top level today we have Golfers and foreigners. How do we let people like Terry Brands Go? It starts at the top and we need consistency. hopefully Zeke can begin this journey. Momir I love you are American!!!!

hes got a good point. guys winning world titles and gold medals are after it by themselves. its not like in college where you have a team working towards a team title, the usa isnt working towards a world title, its more the wrestlers working towards it.

Superbly passionate. Perhaps Jake and Steve Luke can add some of the riding skills he speaks of that American wrestling lacks. Get this...Luke might be heading to my old Ju co. Gotta hit up that one!

PAWF   April 6 at 11:32pm
The topic has been brought up around PA about the lack of participation and management issues of the PAWF. I for one would like to see someone with Ray's vision and attitude manage and run the PAWF to improve wrestling in PA esspecially in Free and Greco. Many coaches refuse to particpate in the PAWF for various reasons. That effect has trickled down into the kids and communities. Kids and parents are not spending thier money on national duals which are great, but takes from the depth and improvement in our own states sytem of wrestling. Very few of PA's top wrestlers particpate or attempt to wrestle Fargo and that trend needs to change. Ray apply for the job - even if it is not vacant!

Not just USA Wrestling, but there are a lot of individuals out there who have the knowledge, skills, and resources to take his ideas and implement them.

After all the stories it's great to see a live interview of Brizner, he did not disappoint. I would recommend people seek out the article he was talking about on the Iowa vs. Oklahoma State systems, a great read.

Ray I agree with a few things but remember that in this country we don't need sports to be successful and prosperous, but in most of the other countries they don't have as many options and for them it's all or nothing. Don't be a pessimist, our education is awesome to consider the world, from our poorest to richest were doing okay, i know from both ends.

This guy has changed so much since his early days. He said the greatest thing I have ever heard, and this was many years ago, He said don't try and be good at a lot of things but take a few things and be great. Where are the glasses. I miss that look,

Very interesting and thoughtful perspective here. Thanks for posting. Here's hoping Angry Fish and Ray will be around to coach my kids someday in a comprehensive system.
