Typically I do not post on wrestling forums but it has come to my attention that a post of a derogatory nature was made using my name about Coach Steiner.

The post was obviously created to only harm the character of Coach Steiner and my character by using my name.

Terry Steiner is a tremendous coach, leader, father, husband, and friend! I will not go into the post since it has been removed and the comments are of such a damaging nature that they need not be mentioned again.

The forum should be used to express ideas that help to promote and further our sport not damage it.

I plan to use every resource in an attempt to find out who exactly posted the comments under my name.

Sincerely,

Cary Kolat

Terry Steiner is a GREAT coach. If you have nothing that pertains to the sport of Women's Wrestling and the amazing coaching abilities the leadership that Terry Steiner exhibits each and everyday...THEN SAY NOTHING!!!!

Not a good thing to say and not a good thing for terry's family to read. Hope we get to the bottom of this. This is not only my family but the girls are our family as well.

twilly, there are all girls youth tournaments. You just won't find as much competition as you would if a girl wrestles boys.

people need to educate themselves on what the girls are doing-all girl tournaments are held throughout the country with state and national championships not to mention all of the usa wrestling stuff. one of the main problems is the old school coaches not wanting girls in "their" room to practice with boys.

the most importnat thing he said that I agree with is that it would be alot harder to drop wrestling at a college if they have both genders. they are not going to drop the guys without dropping the girls. And if that were to come up you have twice as many people yelling and screaming at the college.

twilly - their are male high school wrestlers working out and wrestling with the womens team every week at the OTC. Terry encourages it as it helps his athletes as well as the HS boys, and you better know the boys get their butts handed to them now and then.

there is a chance with title 9 that boys wrestling could be knocked out by girls

adidaw:
The problem is if you have a girl that wants to wrestle, she HAS to wrestle boys, or she doesnt' get to wrestle in 95% of the country. There are no youth tournaments that she can go to and compete against only girls.

Way to go! Supporting women's wrestling goes hand in hand with strengthening collegiate wrestling. All of Terry's points hit the nail on the head.

I think the difference with baseball/softball is that they are actually considered two different sports.

I think what Terry is leading to, is actually having a co-ed team. Much like track and X country. That makes sense to me.

I'm all for womens wrestling, but not girls wrestling boys. For many reasons.

If women can wrestle men, then men should be able to play womens basketball, womens soccer, womens volleyball ect. Why not?

dang magazine:

Having counterpart male-female sports hasn't saved men's baseball (see Iowa State), track/XC, tennis (see ASU), swimming (see ASU), lacrosse, gymnastics (less than 20 programs left); it won't save wrestling either, as long as the title ix gender quota is in place. In fact gender quotas will LIMIT the growth of women's collegiate wrestling.

You can find information at the College Sports Council site at http://www.savingsports.org

that was an awesome interview. I wish you would have asked him how he feels about women wrestling men. The big push back I aways get is that some guy doesn't want his son to lose to my daughter because it will ruin his self esteem. So they choose to forfeit
