Roy,
Thanks for coming to North Carolina and doing the clinics @ Jack Britt H.S. I want you to come back, but your email @ Davison doesn't work any more, and I don't have Uncle Bob's like I used too!! (LOL!) Get back in touch, and we will set you up at the beach! Great interview! I saw the greatness of your boys in 2004&5 in our wrestling room/gym. You and your team/s have inspired a lot of the NC kids and coaches too! I'm Proud of Paulie, Brent, Trevor, Jonny, Zack, Kegan and all the guys from the great cold blue!

lets get realistic. Rockford is a powerhouse and there is no possible way Waldo will ever lose next year. Dorulla will be a national champ like me and we will win a state title. We may be cocky, but we've earned that right.

rockford has the most cockiest kids ever. waldo is ugly and the worst 3 time state champ ever. he got majored by a kid that never was even in the finals. he got beat by an 8th grader last summer. he will get rolled this summer again. same with dorulla and all of those cocky rockford fans

Thank you for the clarification "coach slack can't hear" I am glad I am able to perpetuate anything at all at this level but even 122 push ups w/o stopping is impressive in 7th grade. 122 pull ups is out of this world and i am glad someone straightened me up. Brent's accomplishments still speak for themself and no I do not believe it is possible to be the best at this sport and be stupid in any way shape or form. Although I would say intelligence is very relative!

I'm from a rival school and never would dream of Bashing the fantastic job and great dedication Roy has had to the sport and his kids. I don't believe Bennett would say such things and if he did I feel sorry for him. We all all wish to have our own coach have the same love and passion for the sport and for the kids in your program that You, Rodriguez and a handful of other coaches have had. Best of luck with you and your own family and enjoy your kids...I am sure you will make the right decisions for them also.

Many young men owe alot to Roy Hall!! He was there to help anyone who wanted to improve their wrestling. He will be missed. Hope Davison's new coach is half as good as Roy
PS to Bennett - if you are really good, you don't have to brag about it or belittle others. Your posts speak volumes to your character and your not going to Davison did them a huge favor

Coach Slack Can't Hear!   April 5, 2008 at 7:56pm
Here is a brief transcription of the interview at 00:22 of the clip:
"I keep records of push ups and the mile...He did 122, that's 122 without stopping."
Hall never once mentions Metcalf doing 122 pullups when he was in 7th grade. I know someone will reply, "Hey 122 pushups is pretty impressive!" Yes, indeed it is and I am not taking anything away from that accomplishment. I am only pointing out that Coach Slack needs to pay closer attention to the video and what is being discussed. This is simple stuff and you are helping perpetuate the idea that people involved in athletics are stupid.

They may have come from Goodrich but they wrestled for Davison in high school. I'm not knocking Goodrich because they are very good but you have to give Hall props for what he did with his high school team.

Please don't start the recruiting crap again. He had a program that people wanted to come to and the parents were willing to send their kids there. It's not like what Beazley did at Montrose where he actually recruited and offered housing and stuff to kids so they would be in the montrose school district. Roy Hall is a great coach who has left a tremendous impact on the wrestling community in michigan

Roy called me when he was coaching the middle school team and said Davison would be state champs in three years. I seriously laughed because the High School Team had just scored 2 points at the tough Catholic Central tourny. Three years later I wasnt laughing. He single handedly built the Davison wrestling community back from the ashes. Still cant take me down though.....

Chase Metcalf was killed in a car accident in the fall of 2005. Roy Hall stepped down as coach in order to spend more time with his family. He has devoted his life year round to wrestling for so many years and his children are starting to get older and he feels they need their father in their lives more than before. Roy is a legend and he has left a huge imprint on not just Davison wrestling but wrestling state wide

Everytime Martin posts an interview of a successful wrestler or coach, the audience seems to always say "that guy was great" or "impressive", etc. I believe wrestling simply attracts and develops these people. This video was great and I am proud Coach Hall is a fellow Michigander.

If I were to sum up what Roy Hall has done for our sport not only in Michigan, but at the top level as well, in one word, IMPRESSIVE!! Roy you have done our state well, created some of the nations most dominant men on the mat, and have earned RESPECT nationwide. It will be very difficult to replace the legacy you leave behind, but you set a level to strive for for the next guy. I think I speak for everyone when I say "THANK YOU," for what you have done for our great sport.

Good luck with everything you do as you keep persuing your happiness.
