I think Metcalf would win their next matchup. Metclaf in control and throttle down. It would be a completly different match. This is probably why DC is redshirting and will move up a weight.
im not saying he is scared but do you think he wants to risk a national title by wrestling next year when its a lock the year after all im saying is i think that it had a little to do with metcalf it wasnt the deal breaker
because he says he wants to get stronger in the weight room and bump up a weight class or two for the following year but after that all of the good wrestlers will be gone around him and he will prolly win it no problem i bet metcalf is pissed but who cares i hate that little spaz he gets in everyones face when wrestling and its the iowa mentality well the dc mentality is to whoop whoever is in the way. go dc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
burroughs would be the nastiest matchup... it would be a war, both have amazing athleticism, burroughs is just more traditional and dc is so unpredictable and dangerous
"I hope you mean at another weight or in another year, because Brent Metcalf is still wrestling, and I don't think he is going to release his death grip on the 149 weight class anytime soon. Caldwell beating Metcalf last year was a fluke, and Metcalf showed this year what happens when he doesn't get screwed by a BS call.
Metcalf has only gotten better and stronger. Good luck to Caldwell, but it doesn't seem likely that he'll be winning NCAAs this season."
"I think it is fairly obvious who is the best:
Metcalf - NCAA champion, Hodge Trophy winner, MOW at Big Ten's and national tournament, only loss a bad call to Caldwell
Caldwell - 5th at NCAAs, got killed by Metcalf this year in the rematch
You can get caught in a pin, you can't get caught in a tech."
"If Caldwell can't catch Metcalf in the first period, he can't keep up with Metcalf. Brent gets stronger as the match goes on. Caldwell won't have much confidence going into another match with Metcalf."
"what happened to metcalf was a fluke he proved it by teching cadwell a pin can be a fluke a tech almost isn't"
"there is no way anyone is going to beat metcalf at the ncaas give it up pins can be flukes techs cant"
"metcalf will dominate this weight class"
this is probably what darrion caldwell would like to say to you all..."how my ass taste"
Steven Wallace is dumb! He is talking about Jordan Burroghs from Nebraska, since they are both from NJ. Jordan Oliver is from PA. Get your facts together.
caldwell is a beast he is by far my favorite wrestler and to mrjucie46 i am sorry to have to tell you this but if you are talking about jordan oliver you are dumb caldwell would probally tech him by the second period it would not even be a match not saying jordan oliver is not good but darrion is on another level
Michigan wrestling- Let's see who can deny these champs. All of the Churella's- recently Josh & Ryan Churella, Kevin Jackson-Lansing, Mi Gold Medalist, Paul Donahoe- Davison,Mi same place as Metcalf - Yeah, I know his new challenges. Zeke Jones- Silver Medalist, & Metcalf. So many others I have not remembered. to mention here.
If you think New Jersey is a weak wrestling state, you are clearly wrong. Sure Ohio is tough, but so is Jersey. No one worth typing about? I could see if Palmer pinned Caldwell, but one of Ohio's best just got decked. I think you just sound bitter.
All you NJ and Ohio fans are running your mouths about all the great college wrestlers that came out of your state but, you are forgetting one that would stomp all of them... METCALF! and he is from Michigan.
So if you want to measure a states wrestling worth from the great college wrestlers that came out of it... than Michigan is clearly the best.
Darrion is look'n alot better. He was teched by metcalf cuz he was wrestling metcalfs pace at the start. Also he just looked out of shaped when he wrestled Metcalf. But we'll see what happens again when NCAAs come around. The match i really want to see is Caldwell vs Bubba Jenkins, now that'll be the match.
If Caldwell can't catch Metcalf in the first period, he can't keep up with Metcalf. Brent gets stronger as the match goes on. Caldwell won't have much confidence going into another match with Metcalf.
I hope Caldwell wins upsets Metcalf in the Ncaa's. People can say well, het got tech'd. Truth is, doesn't matter during the season. Want to argue that fact? Go ask Metcalf about the spladle.
darrion caldwell is gettin better and is rep. jersey really well, but no one can say that he is surely gonna beat metcalf...c'mon we'll just have to wait till ncaa's to see wat happens
palmer on the other hand was not himself...

Facts are facts both Caldwell and Metcalf are awesome wrestler ! Both wrestlers styles are so different .Darrion caught Metcalf last year and did what he does.Metcalf totally dominated Darrion this year.Maybe in St.Louis will find out who is really the best.....Rahway in the house !
dude whats so amazing is he didnt get caught... he started from the referees position and got cranked over. Its not like he got stuck with a headlock, he got powered over and pinned. Thats what makes this so impressive. Not saying caldwell necessarily pins him again if they meet but you cant say he "got caught"
Still can't believe Caldwell got teched by Metcalf, but I couldn't believe Caldwell pinned Metcalf last year in a minute.
Palmer is great, he just happened to get caught here. but take nothing away from Caldwell, as long as he doesn't make a last second mistake like he did against Bubba Jenkins last year at NCAA's Semi's....we could see a Metcalf-Caldwell rematch for the TITLE.....
Let's Go Darrion!!!!!!!
Darrion Caldwell is an oustanding individual and an outstanding wrestler. (As is Lance Palmer). Exiting in his wrestling, a tremendous sportsman, with a ton of class and humble and modest within interviews.
I hope to see him and Palmer both place very high at the NCAA's.

Clearly a bad match for Palmer, not overrated, hats off to Caldwell.
