the ref did suck...but metcalf still would of dominated him either way...but htose were not takedowns when he kept his hands on his neck and kept cutting him!

I will say Patacsil is ok on top but that is because of his grip and like I said before, not enough for the big boys. And it would have been closer if he didn't put his head on the mat and give up. It's hard to beat Iowa conditioning.

Brent's been doing that take down routine all through high school, he would have just let him go completely if the ref would had made him. The hip bump is saying, get out of here, next time wrestle.
The way Metcalf is going at this point of the season he is right on track to place high in the NCAA. Congrats on your number one ranking Brent its about time. typical iowa crap. this is why i don't like them. the crowd iowa crowd starts to whine and the refs just start dishing out the calls. that ref sucked so bad! and some people mistake bad sportsmanship as intensity. hey iowa, little kids are watching and they'll do the same tough guy bull crap that you do.
Metcalf pretty relentless. Now is the time for him to take it to schlatter, i was checking out the scuffle results and he was winning in his usual unspectacular fashion, up until the finals loss. what's the deal? maybe he's struggling with the weight?
I only have one thing to add and that is, when u step on the mat with Brent Metcalf u better hope u r in shape becuase if not u r in for a long 7 minutes!!

What's with this dude and the simulated cell block rape at the end there? The ref should have deducted a team pt. for unsportmalike conduct. At leeast he seems to have cut down on the head butts.
That is not an escape Sleepless in Seatle. An escape requires loss of control if only for a breif instant. It was however stalling but the ref at this level should have gotten it right. All in all Metcalf came out on top and that was deserved.
wow! That Ref was terrible. I hope these guys wrestle again! Should have been a lot closer then the score showed. terrible calls by the ref. Great wrestlers though.
I am a huge Brent Metcalf fan and of the way he wrestles...but the ref was absolutely horrible. I don't know where they got that guy from. But, way to go Brent and Patacsil will have a good year if he can get on top of guys.

Is Jake Patacsil from Florida? I think his dad is Frank and ran a solid program at St Thomas Aquinas in Lauderdale. He hosted teams from Canada for a few (6) Xmas's in a row for training camps. His son's, in high school then, would wrestle takedowns with our freestylers and I remember one of them being really good on top...I guess that was Jake.
Those were all escapes, if Metcalf is not controlling Patacsil, he was not even touching Patacsil, that is definitely an escape, not his fault Patacsil quit and gave up.
The first escape call to a TD was questionable, but the others were correct calls. Metcalf came out front, released control of Patacsil, gave up 1 and spinning for 2. If the top guy is not touching the bottom guy, he no longer has control, it's not Metcalf's fault the guy just laid there.
i dunno.. the first metcalf escape, take a look. metcalf out in front, clearly broken free of pat's control. (pause at 2:36 left in the video). then, pressure on pat's left arm, and the spin behind for the 2. maybe a little quick on that first escape call, but i can see the ref's logic. seems likely that after going behind 5-0, the mental game kicked in for both guys.
clearly, the better wrestler won.
No one should feel sorry for someone who does not want to pick their head off the mat. The ref should call him for stalling and give the escape takedown.
As the father of your country, I'd like to say that the ref absolutely made the right call at the 2nd of the second period. Once Metcalf is sitting there with short hooks you can't let riding time run, that would be retarded.

Patacsil already had a stalling call agaisnt him, so either he get stalled out of that match mid way through the third, or we get what we got. The ref did patacsil a favor.
