michigan fan is insane. if meades not good why did beat the ncaa runner up in a period in the jr. filas finals in vegas? seeing he lost 3-2 3-1 to bubba jenkins won 1-0 saying hes not gonn do good in college is insane.
I think Meade has a great shot of doing very well at the next level. The talent is there, he has a quickness that you can't teach, has a phenominal double, and is relentless. Wrestling needs more Alex Meade's. Fun to watch, always on the attack, and lightning quick.
First of all, I like how the only guy to defend Michigan fan has even worse grammar! Second of all, just because you don't see a move used a lot in college wrestling doen't mean that it won't work, it just means that not a lot of wrestlers are good enough at it to make it work. Meade is great at the double, and I think that he will definitely be able to carry it onto the college level, especially with a coach like Smith. This is a kid to keep your eye on for the next 5 years.
i dont understand how michigan fan is talking about not having enough good coaches in america...i personally no that alex is coached by the best..unless you think kolat is a bad coach too
In this match alex is keeping a hand down to make contact- get into his ties and then get his offense going. Alex is not keeping a hand down to neutralize his opponents shot ala Valenti last year in the finals against Coleman Scott to stop the double. I think Meade is a reason you should watch high school wrestling. He is fun to watch and almost never sits on a lead during a big match. (Molinaro last year in the Beast finals is an example of this and you can watch it on Youtube if you want.) Alex is definately big enough for 57 and will likely outgrow 57 and end up at 65. Obvisouly a single leg is the most effecient leg attack in college but Alex's near arm far leg is tremendous and his double will work well. You said the blast double will not work but Joe Williams, Coleman Scott, and Johnny Thompson (all NCAA Champions) lived off that attack and fared well so I do not see your point about his double not working?
michigan fan ur not that far off this from IA kid isnt that great any kid who keeps giving up the a cradle each time shold be teched meade is awsome but we are talking about a national champ hes got potential to do it but hes definately not a lock that double leg to a cradle isnt gonna fly against the best and watch him in the iron man he win 1-0 or 2-1 something like that he never takes the kid down and just out muscles him at the end.. im not knocking him hes awsome but to say hes on the same level as oliver isnt true oliver i think on oliver has the total package right now and hes only gonna get better meade does have some things to work on but im sure he will be in contention in 2 years
the thing about the next level for kids like ALEX is they will learn to cut down on bad shots and get even better set-ups when they get to colleg SO don't worry he'll be right there and we all know he'll get even better. just think they said worst about DAMION CALDWELL from nj and he's competing just fine 3rd in ncaa
Michigan Fan Is An Idiot April 21, 2008 at 11:28am
No you shouldn't watch high school wrestling. you should dump all your money into an english tutor that can teach you how to put together sentences that make sense. you need to go back to school cause you are an idiot. I laughed out loud when I read your posts because barely any of them make any sense. ALEX MEADE has done everything asked of him at the high school level, what more does he have to do? Run for president? I'm going to toast a beer at the bar tonight, praying that you never post again
the kid is not as good as i thought. i hear all this hype about him. his go to move is a power double thats dosent work on the next level. his set up are not good at all. he seem like a guy thats going to be in between weight classes in college. to tall for 149 and not big enough for 157. And to the guy that posted under the name dan gable.(see how far your money can go outside of Iowa). alex is good for his high school level but when he get to the next level his poor technique is not going to carry him into college ranks. A friend ask me to look at video and ask what i think. i told him straight up the truth. In America all you have to do is look cute and people think your good. from technical standpoint i didnt see anything. High school wrestling in the United States sucks. Its just not a lot of good coaches or good wrestling academy for schools. One more note look at the difference between him and chamberlin and even Oliver. Oliver and chamberlin are wrestling, Meade is just showing off. he dances around and take doubles. Bastianelli, wrestling on one knee keeping your down block is stalling and more and more high school kid are doing it. I guess thats why i shouldnt watch high school wrestling.
Mich fan- not really sure where you see stalling in this bout...he is constantly on the attack. I am not aware of the Iowa kid's accomplishments but just by the way he moved he is no slouch and Alex teched him. Meade's speed and technqiue is insane. Watch his reshots, his double to both sides, and his short offense and it is almost impossible not to be impressed. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I see him as an NCAA Champion at 57 or 65 in the next 5 years...not as doing squat.
What other tournament does Meade have to win? Who else does he have to beat, for you (Michigan fan) to think he's good? The kid trains with Kolat, and John Smith wouldn't have wasted his time if Meade wasn't that good. Hopefully you hold yourself to the same standards that you judge everyone else!!!
a techfall doesnt look like stalling to me... as a high school wrestler michigan fan u have no right to criticize a kid that works his off to compete at a high level... cant always perform perfectly, but the kid is a winner and always will be and in college too...
Every one in entitled to his or her own opinion. I am glad that Meade is on your mind like that Michigan Fan. Funny thing is University of Michigan recruited him also.
i guess i'm the only one that doesnt think meade that good. chamberlin by far is way better than him technique wise. I'm so sick of these high school kids wrestling on one knee stalling just trying to keep a down block. on a postive note he has a lot of upside. He going to have to put on muscle to wrestle 157 and he is too tall for 149 so its going to take him awhile to adjust. The only other thing he has going on for him in college is he is coach by John Smith. he he would of went anywhere else i wouldnt predict him to do squat....
if he wasnt as good as u thought he was...why would he have got a scholarship?
2. he took 5th at the NCAA's
3. 3rd place was Jordan Burroughs also from NJ
U no who it is kid... keep killing it
