This looked like a man vs. boy match here...absolutely dominated. Lester does look much bigger in this match. I wonder if Jake will try to go down a weight. He's just not big enough at this point in his career.

just to give my own opinion i think having a wrestle off is the best way to determine who goes, deitchler got the better of lester at trials and got to go, cejudo won an upset too at the trails and ended up winning the gold medal, just my opinion that wrestle off is the best way to go because you might look good on paper but when it comes down to getting on the mat its a different story, just my opinion

Eric- "wasted those spots" RIDICULOUS comment, obviously jake and andy were prepared for the trials and to compete against the world or they wouldnt have been there. Harry and Jake both moved up a weight and watching the match 20 ft from the mat it was easy to see Harry has had an easier time adding size. Give Jake more than a few short months to gain some size. Once he gains his "man" muscle people should be scared. Harry even said it himself, on that day Jake was better and on this day I was better. Thats why they wrestle the matches. Best of luck to them both.

Even if he had beat jake at the trials and gone to the olympics. he might not have brought his A game to Beijing. Then we wouldn't have a medal anyways. The reason we have the trials is to find the best and MOST CONSISTENT wrestlers to represent the U.S. And Jake was that wrestler in 2008.

woulda shoulda coulda. The beauty of the sport is that a guy like Jake can go to the olympics by beating a guy like Lester is Leser doesnt show up with his A game. If not, why even bother with the trials and just hand pick the team from paper rankings.
Competition. May the Best Man Win :)

from the looks of it this is what should have happened at the trials and we may have had a medal in this weight...

I just feel like we need a little better system than we do right now for the Olympics.

I mean, has anyone scored a big upset at the trials and gone on to do well at the olympics? (K.Cross and the type excluded if they had already been to the olympics)
No offense, but it seems like the Dietchler/Hrovat scenarios didn't return the medals that I was hoping for with a Lester/Lawal line-up.
Just seems like we really wasted those spots. IDK.
