If your going to talk about a rule you should learn it first. Once locked hands are called the match does not continue for a brief period of time allowing someone the chance to start an escape. The match is stopped "immediately" unless the escape is already in progress.
that locked hands call was ridiculous... the ref has to let the offensive wrestler know he scored the takedown otherwise there's no reason for him to release the lock
Rule said: First off, once a wrestler is awarded the takedown, they cannot lock their hands around both legs. In every state in the nation, that should be called locked hands.
I think the ref should have let him know he had a takedown -- you know, by saying "two takedown" so he can hear it. Otherwise, he is continuing his takedown to a pinning combination with locked hands -- which is leagal (in any state in the nation -- (except for maybe Mississippi where people don't wrestle).
thats bogus at the end of the 2nd. you need to put up the 2 point takedown and verbally tell the wrestler before he can be expected to let go of his clasp.
So and so beat so and so once and one guy wrestled this other guy and so and so beat this one guy and he beat this other guy who beat that guy and he lost to the other guy.
So that one guy I mentioned wooduh beat that one guy that beat that other guy.
ive wrestled both of these gentleman as well as kenny courts from central dauphin who is a sophmore and i am 100% confident that kenny courts is probably better than both of these gentleman. and probably jake kemerer is the best 160 pounder
I actually think Ortiz never had control- look at their position when the buzzer goes off at 4:54.
I don't think Ortiz can complain too much about the calls in that situation . He came out ahead- net gain of one point when none should have been awarded.
The takedown is called at 4:50. At that point Ortiz's hands are locked. Bailey doesn't go to his back until 4:53. Clearly should be called locking hands- no back points. The only reason Ortiz was able to put him on his back is because his hands were locked.
Hypothetical scenario: If I'm on top, lock my hands around a guy's waist, and then 3 seconds later gut wrench him to his back, I don't get back points, I get called for a technical violation. From a rules standpoint- it's basically the same scenario here. (Although on the human level it's a little more forgivable given the way the takedown was called. Ortiz may not have been aware he'd been awarded 2 even though the ref signaled it clearly.)
Kinda unsual how niether ref gave the singal for locking hands nor did they verbally say "Locking Hands" to the wrestlers, overall an exciting match, an what about the nearfall?? Completly took the 2 points away
Lets just get this "home cooking" call out of the way right now. First off, once a wrestler is awarded the takedown, they cannot lock their hands around both legs. In every state in the nation, that should be called locked hands. Furthermore, once a locked hands call is made, the match continues for a brief period of time - giving the other wrestler time to score an escape. Once a locked hands call is made, the top wrestler cannot score any back points no matter the situation. The perimeter offical did his job and called it. It WAS the right call, not "home cookin" as some of you whine for.
Ortiz was lucky to even be awarded that take down. That ref avoided stoppin the match just to give him a chance, and he still barely pulled it out. He got out wrestled, hands down. Not to say that it would go that way every match, but it did this time.
You can't lock hands when you have a guy on his back and are getting back points. The refs could have called locked hands right before he took him to his back after they awarded the takedown and before he took him to his back. However, you can't be called for locked hands when you have a guy in a pinning combo which Ortiz did when he rolled and took him to his back. In my opinion you either give the back points or don't...but the locked hands was a ridiculous call.
that was a really bizzare locked hands call... I dont k now why the ref held off on calling that takedown for so long, that was some pretty poor officiating
"at least when cali sends boys to the dapper dan, they win!!
oregon, you effin suck!"
this is the dream team dual also, geiger and fortune won last year..

the clasping was not on the nearfall but for when he locked hands at about 4:38

So there's no home cooking there
