i agree that the level of wrestling is not near as advanced in the lower divisions as it is in the bigger schools, but this kid is good and he could take any of the 5A or 6A state champs. just because somone is from a small school it doesnt made them a bad wrestler.
Unfortunately this guy was a 1/2A Champ.(4X) This is for schools with about 100 kids in the whole school. As a result the wrestling is pretty bush league.
When you are at the OR state tournament and we have the 6A guys wrestling each other while these guys are wrestling, it's like watching a JV match, and not a very good one at that

hwt in Oregon is pretty weak this year. basically mccovey has been beating the leftovers from last season. again mccovey wouldn't have even been a runner up in one of oregon's smaller classifications last year. hell your 152lb state champ wouldn't have even been a champ in 5A(smaller classification again) in oregon this year. maybe not even a runner up. so yes ca wrestling must be garbage. I'm just using your "oregon is garbage assessment" to validate my point. if you can't handle the truth, then don't start the unnecessary trash talk to begin with.

beat palikiko at the northwest duals in an exhibition match 8-1.
beat gutzman again this weekend 9-1...

Swartzlander is not a good state champion. At 5A or 6A he deffinetly would not be any where close to a 4 time state champ. Miky Rodrigez who is a two time state champ and a sophmore at 5A would destroy both these kids.

he lost at reno worlds... after he won state, and took third at nationals. he was beat, outta shape, and could have cared less. what did he do to every OR state champ he faced this year?? he flat out dominated them. OR one claim to fame is that one kid beat McCovey one time when it didn't matter. start producing some better wrestlers and win one of these duals and you can start saying Cali is garbage.

I don't know, to me, it looked like the Oregon kid outwrestled the other kid, but couldn't make up for an early mistake. Also, I think there could/should have been a a couple stall calls on the CA kid.
