Coach T. is a fine coach. I would love to have my grandson wrestle for him. But we don't live in the Clovis district and I think it's more important to teach kids the value of loyality. Champions can and have come from anywhere. You just need a good support system. For us it starts with the family.

Shoot, if you are not from the clovis wrestling crowd, it doesn't mean that someone doesn't know another person. If you are outside of the clovis program, you can still see and observe a persons bad side. Tirapele does have a bad side, and just about everyone outside of clovis has seen it. If his mouth is open, it's badmouthing someone else about 70% of the time.

DD retired, why bring him back? ask coach Tirapelle and any of the other local coaches why they did not send their most talented wrestlers to FSU? for the most part, most of the local kids that went to school there just didn't get good offers elsewhere.
lol is right. All these pro-Clovis videos are aimed at wrestlers in the central valley, particularly in the Fresno and Clovis areas. It is dumb to say people will move to the east coast. Being state champs here on the west cost is a lot easier and cheaper. Inform us about "Clovis" or the wrestling world? If that was the case, we would hear about wrestling on the east coast, Russia, China, Bulgaria, Iran, Japan, women's wrestling and the upcoming Olympic Trials. Who do you think you are fooling? You are obviously a part of that program and a low key recruiter. You have done a good job for the cats.

Elementary, middle school, and high school wrestlers are in the "Clovis Practice" video. That is one reason why there are so many kids in the room. Good overall numbers though.

In all the years I've known Riley I've never heard him talk bad about anyone, much less another coach. He is an amazing coach who has coached some of the best as well as a state championship team. He is a very humble man without an ounce on arrogance. To not include him would be a mistake. Unless you have a personal problem with him, he is exactly what we were talking about.

I know Riley, but I've never coached with him. All of the coaches I do know like him and don't think he is arrogant in the least. That is a lot of people to consider. Any coach who consistantly has top teams and has won a state title in California can be called a good or great coach. I was also comparing his personality (humble) to those coaches. So to answer your question, it wss easy to compare Riley to those coaches. What do you have against him?

"a little arrogance" is considerably different than an "overabundance of arrogance". That is where the Tirapelle's are vastly different. Adam fits into "a little arrogance" category. Steve fits into the, "o.o.a" category. Too much, is too much, in any person or in any sport.
I know of several great coaches that do not act arrogant. Dustin Riley, John Azevedo, Vaughn Hitchcock, Jeff Roberts, and Wayne Branstetter all come to mind.
I am going to see if there is a California Hall of Fame for Arrogant and Pompous Coaches. If there is one, I believe that there are several possible outstanding candidates for future inductions right here in the Fresno area.
Jeff Roberts & Bill Magnusson to name to local coaches, one just inducted into the CA wrestling H of F, the other uses wrestling as a tool to keep/ get kids on track and out of trouble.
it takes a little arrogance to be great at anything....give me the name of a great coach that wasn't a little arrogant, and I'll give you the name of a coach that wasn't that great ;) btw, steve is a great coach and no one will argue that he isn't arrogant....but his program is very successful and people in the program are happy with the time an effort he puts in
yes I would have to agree that Steve is very quick to put down other coaches and teams even withing the first conversation with this man first impressions of this guy last a lifetime I can concur he did the same when I first met him

At some point one has to wonder when old gray haired bully will retire and walk away so all of the neighbors can live in peace
that coach showing all the kids all the same exact moves sure does look good in Orange/Black. definitely learning the kids what a winner supposed to look like.
Great interview. I came from a high school with the 30 dedicated ones rather than 5 average ones and it was a special, incredible experience. I love it how he spoke about getting the most potential out of a wrestler. Whether that is to win state or simply place in sections...it's about each wrestler peaking to be the best that they can be.
Any ways, Adam seems to be an incredible job,with an awesome mind set, picking up right where his dad and other coaches have left off there at Clovis. I can't wait to see Clovis, Selma, Poway, Buchanan and maybe one or two other teams battle it out for the title this coming year.
