Actually, that happened a lot at small schools. Womens' sports were hit hard by this when title ix first took effect. AD would have an understanding that they would not be going to advance in the post season and it was the coaches job to ensure that it didn't happen.

I actually know of one women's college basketball game that was the first round of playoffs where two all-conference (and later all-region) players were never put into the game because the team didn't have the money to advance into the playoffs. Title ix was once a great thing...

Mount Union New Facility

Mark Hawald has a brand new facility on the campus of Mount Union College in Alliance, OH. The Purple Raiders have an impressive mat space, it is also the third room in three years.
