On a somewhat related topic, who decided that you have to go balls out all of the time all practice long? How many minutes do you wrestle in a match? Like I was told by Baloglazov, "You Americans try too hard. You make everything more difficult than it needs to be. If my match is for 7 minutes, I train to be able to go 100% for 7 minutes."

And, having also been in a room with Coach Hump, I know for a fact that he shares this same philosophy. You don't learn the most when you go into a 300 degree room and repeatedly bash each other in the head for 3 hours straight. That is just idiotic.

This is at the end of practice. They are probably really really tired. I bet you would be laying on the mat begging for mercy in that room.

... hmmm said:
how many butt bustin hustling iowa hawkeyes won individual national titles? how many made it to the finals?

ohh 1 runner up who got his ass handed to him..
ohio state had 3 finalists and a champ. Now I'm not saying Iowa doesn't have a better history but if you are comparing last yr/this yrs Iowa vs Ohio State (relatively the same lineups) Ohio State had some individuals that got the job done. Cant really say the same for Iowa. And dont try to tell me how many all americans they had cause you can go ask ryan morningstar.. he wasnt happy with his 3rd place finish. metcalf was content with his 2nd. Go ask charlie falck and jay borschel about their performances.
Being unhappy with your performance and "hating your life" are two totally different things if that is what your final sentences attempted to infer. All I am saying is that I was genuinely surprised to see how lethargic the guys looked between whistles. Nobody springing to their feet and getting set immediately. In fact, I recall a few times Coach H with the whistle in his mouth just waiting and waiting and waiting for some guys to CRAWL back to their mark and get set, that was disgusting to watch. At least hustle, if for NOTHING else, the Flo cameras are rolling! I admit, some guys were hustling but to be a #1 TEAM at the NCAA tournament in March, it starts with each and every practice no matter where or when. Each time these guys lace up those shoes, they better HUSTLE HUSTLE HUSTLE.

I would think if you were such a big Buckeye fan, you would be as shocked and disappointed as I am! If you are going to try to defend this, then you are doing the Bucks a great disservice as a fan. EXPECT GREATNESS AND HUSTLE EACH AND EVERY MINUTE OF PRACTICE OUT OF YOUR BUCKEYES!!!

1. Maybe this is what separates the OSU's from the Iowas and Okie States, it is the little things like hustling each and EVERY time you lace up your shoes no matter what month it is or where you are. To add insult to injury, at least hustle because you have Flowrestling's cameras rolling and you know the whole world is going to be watching.

2. If 1 person is loafing, this is 1 too many. NOBODY, BUT NOBODY, should EVER be loafing if this team truly wants to rise to #1 someday.
3. Since when do all of the Iowa wrestlers "hate their lives?" Please substantiate this outrageous statement.
I can safely say one thing that I am 100% sure of, this team that I watched in this video will NOT win the NCAA tournament this season, PERIOD.

1 - It is October.
2 - There are some people loafing but for the most part they are wrestling hard.
3 - All of the people on Iowa's team hate their lives.

I agree Red Dog, these guys are sitting on their butts or laying on their backs instead of springing back into position quickly between the whistles. Why arent the coaches getting on them about this? Why are guys crawling on their knees back into position between the whistles?

Flo, please get to the Iowa room and film our workouts so the Luckeyes can witness TRUE INTENSITY and TRUE INSANITY.

It seems like there is ZERO intensity in this room. I guess it is "only" October but everybody seems to be moving in slow motion out there with guys on top grabbing ankles but not running them hard and guys on the bottom laying down there taking a rest with their heads down and arms under control. No feeling of urgency in this room. This is not what I would expect from the #2 team in the nation.
