Its great if you can make it work. If your hs coach is great you may be able to find a youth coach to work with him. If he stinks, and you happen to have a good youth coach, well then the last thing you want is to have your youth coach extend a weak hs program in to the elementary and junior high level.

There are lots of clubs who have kids going to them in part because their hs coach is not a good coach.
Most really good wrestlers and coaches will grant you that there are a lot of different ways to coach and learn. As long as the youth coach isn't abusive, and there isn't a better candidate waiting right behind him, I think its worthwhile to let the youth coach run his own show, and work out on his own what parts of the high school program he'll copy. Wrestling isn't exactly like football where the "systems" and terminology are different, or where everyone has to be on the "same page"

synergy between the youth coach and the high school coach, that's the ticket, that's why the russians are so damn good (well, ONE of the big reasons anyway), they are coached with a system and specific principles they build on from a young age and the coaches work well together

everything's congruent with these guys...
pretty much like how ubasa's got the youth program in iowa, his good kids will be coached iowa style as a youth, they bring that to the high school level and then when they get to college, whether it's iowa or another school that's led by a gable-trained coach, these kids are most likely gonna have success
i wish i would see this more, this is what AMERICA needs! right?
am i making sense or am i just rambling like an idiot?

Mike Krause runs the youth program (shamrock wrestling club) that feeds into Detroit Catholic Central High School Program. Mitch Hancock is the Head coach of the high school program. Here the two coaches talk about how they like to run each program so that they go hand in hand.
