It is acceptable in the same way that football programs all across the country accept huge donations to facilities. With private donations people can spend their money any way they want. Telling someone their spending too much money on my wrestling program would be absurd. It's already built and being used. The only fishy thing is that you wish you had this facility.

Still really smells fishy said:
This is a public school. There should be a limit to how much private money can be used.
This is my 3rd post. The other 2 have been deleted. Why can't I post my opinion? It's a valid point. Wrestling always goes where the free money is.
I'm 37. I still remember Foxcatcher. I'm not being a hater, I just want to know how this is acceptable. Instead of deleting this post, just respond to my concerns Joe or Martin or Zeb or whoever. We should be able to discuss hese things in an open forum.
I'm not from Edwardsville, but it seems to me it is a privately owned wrestling center that will allow the high school to use their facility. Plus, I never knew it was illegal for school to accept private money. Any school would love to have someone build a facility like this in their town.

I'm just as jealous of this facility as the next guy, but think about how good this is for wrestling. If people are doing this at the youth and high school level it is only going to help wrestling in the future and give other school something to strive for.

I find it funny that you think anything is fishy. These guys are passionate about wrestling, I think it's great and can't wait to see the facility. Mark and the rest of the Edwardsville staff are stand up guys. What a great facility.

After watching all of the vid's it looks like it's not just the money that made this place happen it's the support of the Super a congressmen and it looks like many more. They have set the bar for high schools to dream to strive for. Congrats Edwardsville, I guess we'll see some National Champs coming out of this facility soon with Pat on board.

This facility is a fitting tribute to Jon Davis. For as long as I can remember, Jon was a 144 hour/week contributor to youth wrestling in Illinois, his name on that facility means a lot to a lot of people.

Unreal facility. I am assuming the HS has some affiliation with it and its not a private facility. If so that is even more insane. Thanks Joe.
