Great to hear the wrestlers are on track. It sounds like they are on a path that will move American Wrestling in the right direction.

Good luck Coach Jones. Keep up the good work.

AC- I wasn't sure if you were responding to my earlier post...but Zeke was voted the Best technician in the world in 1988 by FILA...so I am quite sure he knows plenty of freestyle technique.

Ask more people how much the fact that folkstyle differs from freestyle is a handicap for U.S. wrestling.

IMO Zeke Jones is the best wrestling technician this country has to offer. I heard Greg Jones 3X NCAA Champ once describe Zeke this way; "Zeke Jones brain is like one of those underground rooms packed with huge mainframe computers and no matter what he does he is always crunching wrestling, thinking through new techniques, innovative scrambles, etc" and I couldn't agree more! Zeke has the ability to see where wrestling is at today and where it will be going in the future, because of that ability our teams will get much better!

How lucky are we to have this guy spearheading our efforts towards success not only in the Worlds but in London in 2012. I was real skeptical when they first brought him and his team in but this interview clearly and effectively demonstrates how intelligent he is and how strategic he is toward achieving his goals. I like how he recognizes that this is the supreme level of men's wrestling and how even America's best (i.e. herbert, schlatter, caldwell, etc) need to get a feel for what it is like to wrestle with the best the world has to offer.
I also like that he recognizes that Americans need to expand beyond their North American success and to really stand atop the podium in 2012 they need to be competing against and practicing with Europeans and Russians on a consistent basis.
When Zeke stated that USA wrestling has identified "46 Wrestlers" they are keeping a close eye on over this next quadrenium, I was really impressed. That tells me he has scouted our country's best thoroughly and is ready and willing to commit his resources to the people he truly believes have the most potential to bring home olympic gold.
I don't know if this strategy will work or not but I have to believe it will be more effective than just haphazardly training whoever comes out to the OTC or whoever wins US Nationals and the WTTs. Its a very corporate strategic approach and I think with us getting our butts kicked by the Russians this is exactly what we need.
My only criticism of USA wrestling at this juncture is that I would like to see them make more of an effort to bring out top flight talent to the OTC to train and live there on a regular basis. I hear the OTC residents say all the time that not enough guys live out there. Zeke and company need to find a way to get our best guys out there or at least at the regional sites and coming out to the OTC on a regular/monthly basis to train.
Keep up the good work guys. I like how USA Wrestling has finally realized that working with FloWrestling is better than working against them.

US World team coach Zeke Jones updates us on the freestyle world team guys and what they have been up to since the trials. He also talks about out of the wrestling room activities that he has to do as well as how the team will train in the first year of the olympic cycle.
