Great interview. This is a great perspective from a college coach. I will definitely take this information and apply it to my high school guys/girls.

I agree. A lot of high schools and even small colleges close their wrestling room doors once the season is all over. They are limiting their wrestlers into timeframes, which leads people to create their own personal wrestling rooms. Especially the smaller towns. If schools OPEN their wrestling rooms year round, I think it would create better competition, which is what it is all about.

College coaches have all sorts of events that go on behind the scenes...Angry parents, girlfriend issues that their athletes encounter, not enough attention. It is just good that certain guys are great. It seems like Zeb loved that Precin kid.

this is part of the problem because when one of "his guys" gets beat in the room by someone who is just suppose to be a practice partner then what? Coaches all over are guilty of this and do it every year. This ruins so many careers of good wrestlers that are push to the side because they aren't one of the guys. This could be why US wrestling is down, its defiantly something that plays a role in it.

Develop Your Guys

Drew Pariano is a firm believer in developing the talent he has. Some schools recruit over athletes and tend to give up on athletes. Drew talks about the importance of sticking with the guys he recruits.
