1st period stalling on both wrestlers was horrible and then in the 2nd and 3rd period when there is stalling he takes forever to call it! That was not an escape at the end of the 1st. And that should have been a takedown. Officiating in this match was horrible!!! Great match though!!! Randelman is a beast!!! Gable would have kicked Hellickson's butt!!! Jojo you have no clue, go sit in the corner :)

Some horrible officiating not quite sure how these guys were reffing the Big Ten Finals...not even close to an escape at the end of the first and then a fake injury time out where a whistle was never blown should have been a takedown for the Iowa stud

Really?   August 28 at 11:16pm
Man Jojo u got some serious problems with Iowa, how about randlemann shouting and dancing around on the mat mat after a takedown and trying to take a timeout mid match.

that first period escape for iowa was horrible.
I was told randleman failed out his senior year.
Randleman looks like he is on roids even here. I was told his was natural pre mma.
I really would have liked to see Russ punch gable out. he has way too much class for that but gable could sometimes be a spoiled little jerk.
how that throw out of bounds wasn't a penalty on iowa, I don't know. it was an obvious cheap shot.

How that was not a take down when Randleman was pointing to his head is beyond me. I was at those Big 10 Championships and I still remember that match like it was yesterday. It was electric in the barn and this match added fuel to the fire. Bart deserved better.

steroids can't help your conditioning, as for his senior yr. it all caught up with him and coleman. They would both have been great as there careers went on but it would have a big problem at this time.

I think Randleman got in some trouble with the NCAA. Hate to speculate, but maybe failed drug screen or something. A truly gifted athlete. O-H!!

What happened to Randleman his Sr year? Didn't compete in Big 10 or NCAA by the looks of it?

Twilly   August 28 at 11:19am
It always makes good entertainment watching a more talented guy wrestle a determined Iowa guy. I was always amazed at how Gable got lesser athletes to compete at that high of a level

you don't get reaction time at the end of a period

they said randleman was 3-0-3 and the iowa guy was 6-0-. How did they get so many ties?

What happened to Randelman his SR year. He didn't place at NCAA?? Did he move to MMA rather than finish his SR year?

177lbs Kevin Randleman vs. Bart Chelesvig - 1992 Big Ten Finals

The Randleman vs. Chelsvig match probably could be the main event by itself, Randleman fired up a hostile Hawkeye crowd early on and then drama ensued with Gable and Helickson exchanging mid match words. A out of bounds throw taking out a ref, people throwing stuff on the mat. You'd think you were at Philadelphia Eagles game. Good stuff all around. Randleman was a 3X NCAA All American and 2 time Champion. Chelsvig was a 3 time AA finishing 3rd all three years.
