Until I see some actual change and direction with USAW I'm going to think twice about supporting them, like I have in the past. USAW needs to realize while they are providing a service, that a lot of people are not very happy with that service. Look at states like Michigan, Ohio and others who have started up new organizations. More states our bpund to go that route if things don't start getting better.

I have been a long time member of USA wrestling. Other than insurance I not sure if the benefits of membership have much value. There aren't many opportunities to compete in USA wrestling events that are within a reasonable distance, when you go to one it seems like there is no one to wrestle in most weight classes, and yet you are still have 12 hours invested in attending. Most kids in my area rather wrestle Folk style dual meet tournaments that aren't USA sanctioned. They are better ran, kids get more matches and better competition. This has led to fewer clubs and kids becoming USA members in my area. A lot of people don't see the benefit, or value for them.
USA Wrestling not allowing access for a well know wrestling source such as Flowrestling is really amazing. Why try to alienate more young wrestlers from Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling. Many of them are familiar with folk style wrestling and don't wrestle other styles because they don't understand them so they fear trying.

Couple questions for the next round of interviews. Who and how much of a marketing background if any does he or Abbott have? That's a huge issue in our sport. Getting it to the masses. Growing their base to them is all card carriers and head counting, that isn't necessarily the sport getting better on a competition level.

Growing the base should be on all fronts, fans, competitors, coaches and DEPTH! Can't just count cards of a kid that tried it out then quit in 2 weeks to play soccer and consider it growing. Like Martin said we have a great cult following, we need to exploit that but enable that cult to market the sport on a word of mouth grass roots level.
Its kinda hard too when the entire US open is undocumented and no wear to be found, who has exclusivity rights anyway and what are they doing with those rights.
I hope Rich was honest when he said he wanted to work with Flo I guess we'll find out soon enough. A Marketing and media firm needs to be hired to make some big changes in my opinion.

maybe its time for usaw to be reminded why they are even an organization in the first place. remember when aau was sued. maybe its time for the wrestling public to sue usaw.

after hearing this man ramble and then saying "i don't know if that answers your question" pretty conclusive to me... usa wrestling has no vision.
Maybe flo can travel to Cuba now that restrictions are being lifted. i bet they let him broadcast all the great bouts within cuba.

there is a vision for USA wrestling? Talk is cheap Rich. Your vision stinks and needs to change for the benefit of the athletes and not your admins pocketbooks.

2 things that will make a big difference in American wrestling

(1) Make a collaborative effort w/ MAA organizations
(2) Keep Wrestling going in American public schools via "gym class", make a commitment with the national governing body of physical education - we're missing the boat here - it is no longer done in gym class - we need to fix this
(2b) We need more former wrestlers in the schools as teachers, tutors, AD's, etc.

"2-3 years" in technology is a decade in real time, guys you need an IT department with progressive people. Go to member area of USA wrestling what loads, a video each and every time, I don't want to watch the same video everytime I go in there!!

I have no clue what goes on with this organization even though I've been a member for 15 years. The mag they produce doesn't even come out regulary or to all members.
Basically USA wrestling is an Insurance Company veiled in a wrestling cape....
