Attendance

USA Wrestling has their collective heads so far up their arces that they couldn't figure out how to promote this sport! Even their web site is embarrasing, talk about stone age, please fire all the old timers and get some new blood before we loose anymore international respect!

No matter where you put it, the attendance would be low because the supposed wrestling people in American have bailed on FR/GR. Only the die hards go to these events anymore. Sad.

put it in PA and there would be many more people

the sad thing is those people are probably just wrestlers knocked out of the tournament

My guess is the attendance would be much better if the Jrs tourney was on the same day as the Sr Freestyle finals. We got there on Tue, wrestled Wed, Thur, Fri and left early Sat. I know many others who had to do the same. It is a long week for coaches and wrestlers. We were there for the Women's and Greco Finals though. Hated missing the Freestyle on Sat.

In some ways, not surprising that there aren't more folks there.

The fact that they won't let Flo cover any of the matches is ridiculous. Yeah, I know, $$$. But c'mon. Most of us, even as die hard fans, cannot travel to see this and can't necessarily be home or don't have access to the VERY limit TV coverage....especially on Easter weekend. The least that network could have done is create a way for people to see the matches later, even if it meant forking over some $ via paypal or something.
And USA wrestling wants to build the sport? There are kids who want to see this stuff...including my son, a youth wrestler. The investment in having kids be able to see "their" sport would pay back big dividends in improving the profile of the sport. Don't 'ya think?
And....does USA wrestling really think that we would lose more matches if the Russians saw our guys wrestle these matches? Yes, "scouting" can help a wrestler develop a game plan, but the best guy on a given day will win, either way.
