I don't like the idea of having high schools recruiting talent from such a broad base. Helps wrestlers get much better with all the competition, but these are not high school programs - they are more like a regional junior team. Wasn't Perry from Oklahoma? How many others are from out of state? Ruth is Pa. Kind of ridiculous to call them a high school team. Like Oak Ridge in basketball.
I 100% agree, When I was in High school LeBron was in high school and his team had him and 2 other players who started 4 years at Akron a division 1 college. They were all from Akron and greww up playing together. They lost to Oak Hill Academy. Recruiting in a state is one thing, (still dont like it) but to do it at the national level in High School is rediculous. The reason the NCAA has trouble regulating college athletics is because the starts in high school. It is actually a little sad, what High School sports have become today.

You sound like an idiot. They do travel all over, but for tournaments. Go two big states over to wrestle a dual? That's a bit of a stretch. And Blair never ducked St.Paris Graham or anyone.

they go to prep states which really isnt competitive for them
maybe two or three wrestlers challenge them, but besides that they take first in every class pretty much. and that counts as their qualifying for nationals, finishing top 3 at states (not hard)

Coach Buxton presents himself very well as when he speaks one can sense balance. Parents trust their sons to his developmental guidance and Coach Buxton merits their trust as the wrestling results speak for themselves.

Every time I hear Coach Buxton talk I am more impressed. He is what all coaches should strive to be: builders of MEN. His ability to achieve success on the mat while keeping the important things in front is to be commended.

I do realize that he gets some of the best wrestlers in the country coming to his school but he always seems to discuss the improvement over the winning. That IMO is what coaching is all about. Focus on improving your players individually and the team wins will follow.

Jeff Buxton Graduates 9 Seniors

Jeff Buxton will be graduating 9 seniors from his National Champion Squad at Blair. He will have a younger team that needs to fill some gaps at the upper weights. Buxton discusses the fact that he does not focus his wrestlers training on becoming national champions, but trains for improvement.
