That was an impressive match for Abas, I thought he never beat Batirov. It was nice to see a US wrestler beat a Russian. Always is.

Batirov was 20 years of age in this match and yes his style is still to be refined.

Intresting to see Batriov so young, looks like he was still refining his style. And I don't mean to pick on Steven Abas, but it amuses me when wrestlers make the "I'm number 1" sign with their fingers when they are not yet actually #1 (ie after winning a prelim match). Nevertheless, congrats to Abas for being one of the very few to beat Batirov.

wow that was a great match, never knew abas once beat batirov. PLEASE KEEP THE ABAS VIDS COMIN, HE IS THE BEST WRESTLER TO WATCH

First round match up at the 2003 Worlds between Stephen Abas and Mavlet Batirov. Good match with some good scrambles. Batirov was only 19 at the time.

These two met the next year in the Olympic finals with a much different result.
