who cares if it's illegal you bunch of wussies. If someone wants to sacrifice his own body for the sake of his team and himself then I'm all for it. He wasn't hurting the other wrestler so what's the big deal. I thought that was one of the things that just went with the territory in any sport including highschool sports as well. That's the stupidest rule I've ever heard of.

Even though he does land on his back, his initial jump was a backflip, with the (what appears to be obvious) intention of doing a backflip. I am not an official, but I would say this constitutes as a backflip.

I am not 100% sure that this particular instance would be illegal in highschool. Although, I would not be surprised to see it called so. Watch how Bowman lands. He lands on his back, making this not a true back flip. At the speed it happens, though, I can see a ref calling it a back flip.

The addition of the Rule makes a back flip from a standing position an illegal maneuver. The rule was added as an effort to minimize risk to wrestlers.
however this move is legal in highschool
