You do not see a lot of wrestling schools because there are not many. We are building this sport in a football and baseball area. It is not like we have an NYC or Newark population where diversity pokes up in the sports interests. It takes time to motivate and recruit coaches and acquire money for trips to each school. I helped with my club team at Florida State and will have to tell you that I would love to Coach it if it were to go NCAA, TGA, or any other College competition league. This is a big challenge for almost the entire South East with the exception of Tennessee.

I would have to say that each area brings a strength and it usually does not reflect the region, but the wrestler. My opinion is that California has some pretty tough characters, but only because they see 2-3times the tournaments with size (24+ teams) that you could find in other states. Iowa, Minnesota,Ohio, Penn, Wisconsin have longer seasons and have more communal support for the sport. You can fill a gym for a dual match where as in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, etc... you are only filling a gym if you hold a tournament. To say one region is better in wrestling is to argue a relative point. It depends where you are. I liked wrestling in Florida because we didn't have a lot of fans. My parents didn't even come to watch. I was there because it was what I loved to do and that was enough for me. I coach now and I still love it. These kids know that if they go against a kid with experience they may lose...but they lose with courage and by doing their very best. True athletes are those who triumph even when the Coach is not watching. You would all do well to stop this drama and focus on building the sport of wrestling in your area. Focus on recruiting and focus on improving and giving back to this sport. Get an interest level built in your community. Help a USA or Chaos club in your area by Coaching or being a drill partner. Be proactive not reactive. We are wrestlers for life.

There are kids on my team from everywhere......I am from florida and damn proud of it.....Actually there is a kid on my team from Minnesota......he is good, but he is not anywhere close to the best kid on our team.....there are kids from Florida on all sorts of college rosters in all classifications acroos the country....so SHOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
