to say kyle deserves it cause he works hard...for one, it suggests that eric doesnt work hard and therefore didnt deserve to win. Fact...Chandler came back from a broken wrist just 3-4 weeks prior...Fact...Chandler is one of the most hardest working wrestlers in the state (just as Grueninger was). Chandler is one of the elite wrestlers in Florida and way above his competition. Chandler was denied 4 state titles due to this match (thanks, ref). Grueninger didnt win this match as much as the ref handed it to him. Dont care what you bozos want to say, Chandler takes it to Grueninger every single time, hes that much better...except of course, in this video where refs calls made a huge difference. after watching the video, tell me where grueninger didn anything to earn this win...he mostly stalled in the front head lock and 'sat' on the bottom waiting for the ref to bail him out. Sorry, this title for Grueninger shall always be tainted and questioned...the superior wrestler got hosed
what a joke! the guy in the white singlet vs. the guy in the black and the ref! some of the worst 'stalling' calls ive ever seen...it paralyzes the kid in white to the point that he doesnt know what to do. the ref really must have had it out for him or maybe the kid in black is the the ref's nephew....who knows
yo wtf are you talking about they cheated eric out with the wack ass calls dont even come with that bs. if any thing eick should have won it and most ppl in flo. says the same.
Practiced With The Superior October 24, 2008 at 7:11pm
eric pinned kyle the year before in the finals.i guess kyle just wanted it more and he does work very hard.the calls were questionable but its over with and i think kyle would have won anyway.bad calls or not.
grueninger will most likely pin all of u in a wrestling match.so just shut up.and this kid works hard as hell in know i practiced with him at the warehouse with glenn goodman.and the stalling calls were fine so quit ing.
wow. wow. wow. 5:35. That is almost funny. That was such a bad call. Oh my god.he has a cross body. and he's pushing and pushing trying to break the other guy down, for like... 15 seconds. wow
dat was b.s eric shouldve won da ref sayed some stupid calls eric didnt stall he kept on getting a wrist trying 2 tilt him and stuff kyle just stayed dere stalling with his head down they needed a new ref eric shouldve won and been 3x state champ kyle just got lucky
dat was b.s eric shouldve won da ref sayed some stupid calls eric didnt stall he kept on getting a wrist trying 2 tilt him and stuff kyle just stayed dere stalling with his head down they needed a new ref eric shouldve won and been 3x state champ kyle just got lucky
Kyle is the clear Victor here, Eric did not try to work for any pin/Backpoints he rode the hips for a whole period he was on top . The reversal was to little too late for Eric in the thirdHe ran out of time . Congratulations Billy !!State .... Your the Man !!
THE BLACK SINGLET KID DOESN'T TRY TO ESCAPE EVEN ONCE ON BOTTOM, NEVER TRIES TO EVEN GET UP OR A SINGLE MOVE, JUST SITS THERE ALL MATCH. WHITE SINGLET HAS GRAPEVINE AND IS TRYING TO GET ARM FOR TURN MOVE BUT BLACK SINGLET JUST DUCK HIS HEAD AND STALLING ON TOP WRESTLER?? IN A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH?? ARE YOU KIDDING?? WHERE IS THIS REF FROM?? TERRIBLE STALLING CALLS DEFINITELY AFFECT OUTCOME.
im 15 and have been wrestling for 1 year, but consider it the best thing that has happened to me and i think i could have reffed that math better than that asshole did
if Kyle and Chandler went on the mat today, Chandler would not only beat him but would beat him big...Kyle is good but Chandler is superior. If Chandler was nervous before the match it wasnt because he was facing Kyle. You are also suggesting that Chandler wasnt committed, isnt tenacious or isnt dedicated. You are an obvious blind idiot. I dont like taking anything away from Kyle but idiots like you making idiotic statements forces people to choose sides. Chandler is one of the top wrestlers in any weight class in the state of Florida. Kyle is among the best but a step below Chandler. Hope they meet again more than once and everyone will see the difference. Than what will you have to say then?
If Kyle and Chandler went on the mat today, Kyle would succeed again, because of his hard work, commitment, tenacity, and dedication. He wanted it this year and proved it by his record of 50-2. When they were warming up, Chandler was very nervous and anxious because he knew Kyle was ready and pumped!!! Congrats, Kyle, YOU ARE THE 112 LB. STATE CHAMP AND NO ONE CAN TAKE IT FROM YOU!
yeah, 'in Orlando', you know everything. Guess you also know the fact that i am 32 years old and an assistant wrestling coach at a 2A Florida high school. Oh, by the way dumb ass, im also a referee! So yeah, Kyle did kick my butt this year lol.
to say the Grueninger would have won anyway is a direct example of a homer. Tell me where Grueninger would have won, he did absolutely nothing until the 3rd period. And for those who say Chanlder's reversal was allowed by Grueninger, you are mistaking as well. If you watch closely, you'll see Grueninger tried to stay with him on the roll but got reversed anyway and was taken to his back as time ran out. So, if you and everyone still think 'he allowed it' or he still would have won is a complete lobsided view in favor of Grueninger, your homey.
I would have to look to see what area the official works. If he is from the Pinellas County area he shouldn't have been reffing the match. It can't just be horrible officiating could it?
Those stalling calls were not consistant with the rule book. Bottom made no attempts to improve and top guy rode tough during 2nd Per. With the legs in and attempting to hip over, there should have been not stall call. Referee should be ashamed of himself.
At the 4:04 mark, the action used by the official to signal the 3rd stall call is garbage and is showing up the kid and his coach. How dare any referee watch this tape and defend this guys actions. The idiot assistant ref is just along for the ride.
The kid on the bottom made no attempt to come up. The top kid rode like a collegiate wrestler. Fantastic technique and he gets hammered b the official.
First off those stalling calls in the second period lead Eric to be very fustrated in the third period and lead him to take some chances. When he rolled and took him self to his back. I am pretty sure that if those stalling calls were not called the match would have been alot different. All you people are just happy becuase someone finally beat ERIC! Which no, no one can beat eric he was robbed. That why all you people are so damn happy.
its amazing how everyone says kyle wouldn't have won. He would still have been up 2-0 near the end and obviously would have cut him near the end. The match wouldn't have gone into OT.
stop star f@#king the little green man......he stalled and was warned, pemalized 1, pemalized twice, turned to his back and was given a reversal w 5 seconds left........listen to the guy filming......he called before the ref .....hey is this bird road rudy ??? you sure sound like him
who ever sees this match can clearly see that this ref is a peice of c***! Totally in favor of countryside!!! This kyle kid is a state champ because the ref wanted him to be !!!
"south dade", who are you kid and why do you hate eric so much? wow .. your probably just mad because he is better than you.. lol.. bet you wouldnt say none of this when you see him at tourney!! wow .. stop hating
Those calls were terrible. I give Chandler a lot of credit for staying so cool in that situation. He was ROBBED of a state title and he still had enough class to shake his opponent and his oppenent's coaches hands after the match without saying a word to the ref. I would have gotten tossed after getting a screwing like that in the state finals!
SOUTH DADE, im pretty sure your not from south dade i notice the hate you have on Eric, you must be one of the kids Eric beat in the tourney trying to get eric against South Dade. Stop Talkin Shitt and by the way it should have gone into OT 2-2
ETHICS.....WORK HARDER IN A WAY TO DO SOMETHING......THE GREAT CHANDLER SHOULD HAVE LET GRUENINGER ESCAPE AND TAKE HIM DOWN (IF HE COULD HAVE)????HE DIDN'T ERIC SHOULD OF WRESTLE A SMART MATCH, SAY WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT THE REF, BUT AFTER A WARNING, AFRTER 1 PT HE SHOULD HAVE REALIZED HIS TACTICS WERE NOT GOING TO WORK.....ENOUGH ABOUT THE REF NOW....
What a bunch of whiners. Kid in white just plain lost. Ref was fine, just on the quick side in calling stalemates and stalling. Are wrestling fans in Florida so clueless that they can't see the difference between riding parallel and getting out to the side?
sore losers?! If you can see Erics reaction to the fact that he lost was not a reaction of a sore loser at all. Just becuase the people here want to say whats on their mind about him GETTING CHEATED does not make him a sore loser. So WHO EVER YOU ARE open your eyes and accept that the only reason he is not a state champ is becuase he was robbed. Wow its amazing how many people hate on this kid.. even the damn reffs. Its sick...
what sore losers. i'm a fan of the chandlers but i'm not going to blame the loss on the ref. eric didn't have his best match and thats why he's not a state champ this year.
the three stalling calls as you can see had Eric extremely fustrated! And as for the two back points eric tried to roll and put him self on his back! I give kyle no credit he didnt do ANYTHING the whole match.
the first stall should of been a stalemate....the second stall was a stall.....the 3 rd stall was the ref pissed at the coaches, he was obviously emotional and called the stall too quickly.....the top man was trying to turn with the leg/hips.....That ref needs his ass kicked
for pete sake it doesn't matter about the stalling calls. grueninger but him to his back for two near fall.
match over. there is nothing to argue about. eric got the reverse because kyle new he could give it up. grueninger won it is over.
south dade, watch the video again...'he should have worked harder'??????
how much harder can a wrestler work? I will agree though that he should have changed his tactic earlier after the first stalling point but it doesnt take away from the fact that the ref screwed him.
"south dade", He was penalized for trying to tilt and never had the chance to wprk cuz he was called time after time for stalling. So what he is penaziled for being good. Dont hate.. please
the fact of the matter after being called for warned once, penalized, Chandler should have changed his game plan........not to hard to figure out......
Very classy reaction after the fact by Chandler after being completely ****ed with those stalling calls. Who knows how the match would have played out if not for those horrific calls.
What I saw in the 2nd period was the referee basically bullying Chandler and calling what he wanted to call even when Chandler was in a position to possibly score from top. This apparently changed the dynamics of this match and forced Chandler to take some chances in the 3rd period when his opponent stopped him and scored back points. This type of officiating is an embarrasment to Florida Wrestling. Unfortunately, the referee was the main player of this match and the state should not allow him to work another state tournament.
i am from Ohio with over 40 years of wrestling experience in different capacities. I don favor neither Grueninger nor Chandler but after reading all the posts and watching the video 3 times i personally conclude that the referre should not have been so instrumental in the outcome of this match, especially it being a state championship finals. Chandler never stopped trying to improve his position and i noticed that when he looked for other alternatives while keeping his advantage on top, he was hit for stalling. Very very questionable interpretation in my view. Riding like he did while continually trying to turn his opponent should not have been called a stall. He tried to improve his position while still maintaining control using his legs. The Grueninger camp will differ in opinion, the Chandler camp will always say he was cheated, all this is to be expected. The match should have entered OT tied at 2.
"its over", look kid stop hating on chandler, yea he is runner up only because he was robbed from his state title. So how about you get over yourself and accpet the truth. Thats the only way kyle could have won by a match that was in his favor so please.
Tony Alcocer Cali Wrestler February 21, 2008 at 7:47pm
yea i agree those were some ridiculous stalling calls and chandler is the true champ in this match the ref never gave chandler enough time to work on top when he was getting ready to turn the kid he got called for stalling he was robbed no doubt
Chandler was working on top. If you watch the video closely he was constantly working and if anyone wasnt 'working' it was Grueninger on the bottom. Riding the hips is what you guys like to say, well, thats college wrestling and this Chandler guy is a superior wrestler. I dont think the ref should have dictated the match with his very questionable calls.
When eric wresltes good kids, all he does is rides the hips? What? That it is so dumb to say.. Chandler is an outstanding wreslter. He had the leg in and what working to tilt the kid. When klye had his head on the mat not doing ANYTHING. Its obvious to me and all the other people here that eric won that match! It is also so obvious that the ref was HORRIBLE! Dont get me wrong Kyle is also a good wreslter but when it comes down to it, Chandler was the better wreslter.
Most of you guys obviously dont know much about wrestling. When Eric wrestles good kids, all he does is ride the hips which is infact stalling. He just pinches your body together and makes it difficult to wrestle on bottom. The fact that no one can see that Kyle is the champ is ridiculous.
its incredible that this ref made such a huge difference in this match. I can see 1 stall warning on Chandler in the whole match. I can also see 3 stall warning on Grueninger (including the one called late). I disagree with all the people that posted in favor of the stalling calls. Those calls were very subjective and in-fact, it is evident this Chandler kid never stopped working while the Grueninger kid never made any attempts to get off the mat. The Chandler kid was unfortunately robbed of a decent, fair chance in this match
For all you who think chandler was stalling should look up the word stalling!Eric was working to get back points if you cant see that then wow.. Kyle was not doing anyhting on bottom.. maybe every here and there. Horrible reffing!!!!
whether those two points were awarded or not it would not have gone into overtime, grueninger i'm sure would have cut chandler instead of staying with the gramby and he still would of had the win
All I see in this match is comlpete favortism towards Countryside. Its horrible that this ref decided a state finals match. As for what bears99 said it should have gone into OT.
wow!! i don't know how justified that can be when the guy on top is riding the legs BUT he was trying to turn him. The guy on bottom sat there with his head on the mat, no hand fighting nothing. Then when the guy in the black was on top he kept trapping the ankle even though he was out to the side. I think it should have been 2-2 and OT.
those stalling calls are b/s when a wrestler is riding hips much of the situations are decided by the defense of the bottom man. If the bottom man doesn't move the top man can't do much
Wow, that reff really sucks, im sorry but when it comes to big matches like this at a state championship the reffs should make the right calls and make the calls by the book(Mike Anderson) should consider never reffing a match again in his life. They should investigate him
pretty easy to see why chandler was called for so many stallings and grueninger wasn't, chandler never left the hips one time while kyle jumped from side to side on top riding him for a minute and a half. Kyle kept moving the whole time from side to side on top of chandler while chandler never moved one time from kyle's hips. Watch the tape during the second period and see how many times chandler left from directly behind kyle to try to work for a turn. No suprise to me he was hit for stalling he deserved it.
Honestly, I could not see the big difference when Grueninger was on top except both wrestlers had different styles. It is a shame when a referee decides a match, not the wrestlers. The calls were obviously biased in favor of Grueninger for whatever reason. This Chandler kid rode like a college wrestler and got penalized for it. Plus Grueninger was doing much on bottom. This type of officiating needs to be investigated.
What is the name of that ref, because whoever he is he should not be officiating wrestling matches, much less at a state tournament. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!
eric wins states this year
kyle doesnt even place.
LMAO.

Without the idiotic calls it would've been 2 to 2 In an overtime and Chandler probably would've take him down

take your runner up trophy and stop whining
he's more like a 125
