i wouldn't go so far as to calling him a homer, just missed a few calls. I'm not sure he cost cottle the match, though. the call in the first was bad, clearly in. the takedown in the second was probably a good callbut he missed the reversall and gave back oints to wrong kid. Bad matches happened before and they will happen again...Pretty tough 12 lbers

Then DON'T WRITE on a message Board! You say be a man and come tell you to your face. Why don't you do the same thing and call up the Ref and explain to him how much you disagree with his calls. I bet you didn't do that instead you called him out on a message board, bringing absolutely nothing but negative "publicity" to our Skyhawks.

The MOMENT you put something up on a message board you seem like a big baby. I agree Z got screwed, but you tell your son how well he wrestled you explain to him sometimes in life things don't go your way (All of which I am POSITIVE you did) So LET IT GOOOOOOOOOO!
Don't bring it to everyone's attention how the ref missed a call. If Z knows he is a better wrestler, you know he is a better wrestler, and the video speaks for itself. Then that is enough. There is absolutely no need to post ANYTHING!!!!

Just wondering "Skutt Fan", did you happen to see the match? I ask, because out of the thousands of matches I've been fortunate enough to view, this is one of the few I've seen a referee throw. The referee was from Missouri and Brewer is from Missouri. That in itself doesn't mean anything except in this case, the referee disgraced himself and the sport by making calls that were beyond bad, they were immoral.

Skutt Fan,

First, I'm not making excuses for Z. Like I said, he lost and there is absolutely nothing you can do about that. Sometimes it goes your way and sometimes it does not. WE have all been there at one point in time or another.

And trust me, I do JUST let him wrestle. However, I'm sure if it was your son out there on the receiving end of that match you would have felt the same way. At first I wasn't going to say anything, & I normally don't. It was the sequence of events that transpired after the match that really brought about the post for me. If you take it the wrong way then I'm okay with that. It is a free world and you are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.

I wasn't the first to react to the officiating and I don't stand behind an anonymous name to post. Can you say the same thing about yourself?
I believe you probably know me personally since you have watched Cottle wrestle for a long time. So, have the intestinal fortitude and come up to me and make your below statement. As a betting man, I'll bet you don't budge from your keyboard.

As a Skutt Fan, you're probably linked to the program very close yet your allegiance to the program runs as thin as water flowing across a counter top.
So be it, that is life and everyone has to deal with it. No excuses for Z, he wrestled tough & I like Cody Brewer. He is a very talented wrestler who will go far in what ever he chooses to do.

Like I said before. Great match Cody, & good luck the rest of the season.

Nice Match Cottle. It is to bad your dad tries to make excuses for you. I have watched you wrestle for a long time and you are one heck of a wrestler. DAD just let your son wrestle and QUIT making excuses you sound like a big BABY!!

Would like to thank Shawn Smith, the Missouri Referee for his excellent officiating of this match.

A Takedown and Nearfall called off near the begining of the first period after Brewer attempts an inside leg trip. Cottle was clearly inbounds and brewer was on his back. Thanks Mr. Shawn Smith for that excellent call. So, that is a 4-5 point swing that went Brewer's way.

Now, for the second period. In a scramble, Cottle steps over Brewers leg. Brewer gets his arm free and reachs around Cottle and amazingly gets the Takedown. Now, Cottle still has the ankle and within a second or two, turns the corner and puts Brewer in a Peterson. Referee Shawn Smith calls the Takedown for Brewer and then starts stroking back points for Brewer. Not once did he ever realize that Brewer was never in control and Cottle had Brewer in a Peterson for Nearfall Points.

For arguments sake, give Brewer the Takedown. You still have to give Cottle the Reversal and Nearfall Points.

So, at a minimum, if they traded Takedown for Reversal. Then Cottle gets a minimum of 2 points in his favor for a Nearfall.

That is now a grand total of at least 7 points if not more that Cottle should have received.

I'm pretty sure that if Cottle is up by 7 going into the 3rd Period he doesn't go on his feet to start. The entire outcome of this match was determined by two scoring positions for Cottle that was called off.

My hat is off to Cody Brewer, he is a great wrestler and I wish him the best in the remainder of this season and his career. Way to Go Cody.

As for you, Mr Shawn Smith. It's pretty disgusting when a league of your peers from Missouri come up after the match and apologize for the way the 112lb Championship Match was officiated. Even teams from other than Oak Park, were coming up in disbelief on the way that match was called.

Letting two great wrestlers leave it all on the mat without your interference was definitely not in the cards during this match.

Well, what's done is done and there is no going back in time. So, once again, Great job Cody and I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I look forward to watching you the rest of the year.

Nothing like a bleeder to slow down the pace of a match. Good one though. Looked like the bleeder could have had the upper hand, then gets dropped with some good scramble wrestling. Not overly exciting but a good win for the crazy uniformed guy. Very good win. Finals win? Good win. Fun listening to the table guys too...
