I'm not going to lower myself on flowrestling anymore. This all started becasue I have better hair then all of you and everyone is just jealous. Great story and great inspiration to many kids coming out of High School. He's right, Tom Ryan is a very special person and has influenced many people at many levels.
I was joking with the whole Mike Amo thin g. I was on the same team as dennis when he was at hofstra. And i can honestly say that i cant remember a team run that he didnt win. Also, i was at nationals his Jr year when he beat the # 6 seed. it was a total joke. dennis is one of the guys i looked up to and was a big reason why i chose to attend hofstra. Especiallly when he beat bob bennette at the New brigde trmnt. Dennis, i was kidding hope you didnt get upset i know that amo was no where close to you level. and by the looks of Binghampton and the direction the propgram is headed you seem to be doing a great job.
Maturity not sure what you mean, I don't think he was being ridiculous at all, it wasn't like he went off on a tangent and started cursing and stuff, he just said call him in the office if they wanted to talk. I don't get any inferioty complex or anything of the sort I think you are reading too much into this, but that is just my opinion. Hey goodluck Binghamton this season.

Why in wrestling do we assume that great wrestlers will be great coaches? If we look at other sports a great player who is also a great coach is not the norm. Much more often great coaches are guys who were less than stellar players themselves.
I went to Lock Haven for a few years....I kinda of remember you but not well...glad to hear your doing well at Binghamton. To clarify a few things...My recruiting class...no one graduated...either you droped out of college or like me, you transferred...tells a lot about the program at that time. I don't blame you for transferring... LHU had the best recruiting classes in 1996-1997 in the programs history but more then half the guys recruited left before graduation. I guess it takes a lot to wanna stay there for four/five years of your life....I couldn't do it...Poff/Rock were great guys...could have focused more on the 'Team" instead of specific individuals at that time....Looks like LHU has gone down alot since then...
Now I have to post for a second time here, all funny stuff. To clarify yes I did lose to Mike Amoroso in a wrestle off, and the score was 3-2 not 8-1 and it was the only time we wrestled in college. Now I am pretty sure it was the only time I got taken down by him at any time even in practice that year. None the less he did beat me fair and square in the wrestle off. So now the reason I started is that I won 35 matches that year and he won 4. I placed in every tournament I went too except Midlands where I went 3-2 and he didn't place in any. I was ranked in the country at 165 pounds and he didn't wrestle. It wasn't my fault that he couldn't get it done when the Hofstra singlet was on. I had some problems in wrestle offs because I got real nervous more so then actual matches not sure why. So any way the 8-1 and 2X's is a made up scenario. I also never did anything of the sort of spreading rumors of steriods, he admitted that himself to coach after the season and got kicked off the team, I had nothing to do with it. I also did lose to one Binghamton kid in college, his name was Joe Privetere. Now at the time yes it was a bad loss and I did get upset and get in a verbal arguement with him after the match because I was pissed and acted childish. Now if losing to a high school national champ, Division 2 all-american, 20 and under world greco silver medalist 3-2 is a horrible loss I am guilty. Like I said at the time he was 149 pounder in Division 2 and and all-american and I was ranked like 15th in the nation at 157 pounds in Division 1, so yes I should have won, but I guess he wrestled a smart match and beat me. Now again considering I won probably close to 80% of my college matches throughout my career and considering that I didn't win anything in high school, I think it is safe to say these things happen but overall I did better than fine. It is funny when I was done with the interview I remember thinking I bet a select few people are going to post nonesense on here, and here you are. Now I know what few people you are persoanlly so your annoymous coward name doesn't hide your identity from me, why don't you man up and give me a call in the office and we will talk. You hated me then and over 10 years later are still jealous that I worked harder and accomplished so much more than you, for this I am not sorry. At Lock Haven it was a same few, some people couldn't stand that I didn't even qualify for States in high school but ran right by them in college and they didn't get any better. So again I laugh at some of this stuff but do have to protect my name from your nonsense, and I am sure another 10 years from now you all will still be jealous and negative and post crap somewhere, it is in your nature. It isn't in mine so I will continue doing what I do best, being honest with people and keep out achieving all my negative hating fans. So again I thank everyone for watching our interviews and reading the posts and paying attention to Binghamton wrestling. We got some real good kids on the team and the future looks even brighter.
The only reason he started was after losing the wrestle off at hofstra he started a rumor that mike was on the juice. Truth is mike beat up 2x i think the score was 8-1 and mike was hurt.

I usually don't care and laugh at most of these posts mr. coward, but this a gross overstatement and flat out lie. Yes I was a true freshman on the 1997 team that took 5th in the nation and you were obviously my teammate. Now that was the last great team because all the good kids graduated that year anyway. 4 of the 5 all americans graduated. Now when I transfered to Hofstra not only did I wrestle a lock haven guy one time it was seven times. I won all seven of those matches including in the dual meets between our schools, when I was a 157 pounder and they bumped me up to 174 and I still beat the LHU starter there and my back up beat the 157 pounder and my other back up lost in ot at 165. So basically 7 wins with no loses to any LHU kid, that is a FACT!!! Another fact after all of my decisive wins because none were by less than 3 or 4 points, coach Poff would always say as I went to shake his hand after my win, you are in the wrong singlet, and I would just laugh. Also I won 100 matches and qualified for nationals twice went 3 and 2 out there in st louis as Junior where the lock haven kid didn't qualify at my wieght. None of the
freshman that came in with me had as a good career as I did, not saying I was a superstar but better than many, i was ranked anywhere from 18th -10th in the nation from my sophmore through senior year, I don't EVER remember seeing the Lock Haven kid ranked ahead of me, EVER! believe me I would have noticed because I took pride beating the Lock Haven kid. The only freshman I am not sure of because I remember he did well too is Scotty Bear, and Robbie Wiekel who I saw recently did pretty good as well. But they were 141 and 149 and I was 157, 165, then 157 again. So couldn't hang at Lock Haven is a stupid stupid post, and simply not true, but I was socially out of place, a long island boy in the sticks was kinda rough, but not why I left, I just knew it wasn't the place for me for wrestling, and I made the right choice for leaving. If you want I probably have 4-5 of those Lock Haven victories on tape and DVD at my house I will post them for ya! Guy seems pretty genuine, for a new program I can see how a down to earth guy can lift the spirits of a room that is bound to see some pretty bad defeats. Like he said, their wasn't the greatest athletes in the room at first, so a guy like him who was a "high school nobody" probably is a great motivator for a new program.

Papadatos is a great guy and coach.. was happy to have been able to wrestle for him.. I felt like he was the only person who believed in me when I was there.. I would've ran through walls for him! Hope they have a great season!
I am ashamed to say I have never heard of of Papadopolos before this interview- but wow - this guy is great. Great communicator with an immense passion not only for the sport, but also for the people who have gotten him there. I hope the best for Binghamton -and Dennis will turn some heads as a coach on the national level - I put good money on it. Good luck guys.
Dennis really appreciated the coaching he received at Hofstra under Tom Ryan. He uses some of what he took from coach Ryan for his team, Binghamton. Binghamton is now on the move and has several wrestlers make noise at the national level. November 25, 2008
