Wow, Tom wrestles with some negative emotion it seems. I'd be made too if some one was giving me the "Five on Two".

No backs for Koballa and a very slow TD-2 for the same hold during the first period in the 141 pound match, now an early TD-2 and 2 very quick and easily questionable backpoints in the blink-of-an-eye for Bertucci during a scramble situation of this match? Archuleta did score more takedowns so this is not to say that the 141 lb match should not have been won by purdue. However, if the backpoints in that match are counted as quickly, the tempo and/or outlook of that match possibly could have been different. The officials could have possibly been a little anxious to make the correct call this time and in turn ended up making another bad call.

In the second period of this match the score is 4-1 Bertucci. Straughn hits two knee taps. The first one was scored correctly as a 5 point move and immediately counting backpoints by official. The second time the ref claims that Bertucci escapes (but does not say this until after the second knee tap) which would make the score 6-5 Straughn. Staughn immediately hits another knee tap and clearly the ref is counting backpoints and holds up 2 more back points, but some how the score only ends up being 8-5 Straughn. Should the score not be 10-5 after this? Very inconsistent calls from the officials. The 141lb match could have gone either way but 157lb match should have went to Notre Dame. Depending on your point of view, this is a 6-12 point swing in the team score of the match which would ultimately put Notre Dame on top. Therefore with that being said, I would agree with the statement of Straughn getting hosed.
*Food for thought...
...Apparrently the refs were "slow" to be reminded that this is college wrestling and tried to make up for it a little too "quick" with those backpoints...

yeah right... Straughn got hosed? So many actions on the edge of the mat favored bertucci that never got called. Straughn either jumped up in the first few seconds to beat the whistle or died on bottom. Nor did he have any effective moves on top. Outside of a burst of maybe 10 seconds by Straughn, Nick owned the whole match. All I could say was thank god at the end. May the best man win right?

Agreed! Straughn may have gotten hosed but Bertucci is a freakin Warrior! I am impressed even though Straughn caught him with two Dirrrrty flo takedowns!

Tom got hosed by the refs in the first take down flurry, giving 2 was bad enough but 2 backs also?

props to Bertucci though for going the whole match with that kind of injury

I think the circumstances make this a phenominal match! Knowing how good Straughn is, this makes Bertucci one tough dude to finish this match! WOW this kid has a high threshold for pain!
