Tony, I appologize. I really needed to get Tom Brands and was planning on doing it at several points throughout the evening but lost him in the mix. The biggest gap in our coverage.

Believe it or not, he told me that exact same thing on the phone a month and a half ago. I have to say I was skeptical.

Monster win for Darion and the program.

Caldwells Coach is the caption?!?! Give the man the respect he deserves and put his name up there. Carter Jordan is a great man.

Caldwell tried to transfer to Rutgers Univ last summer. He and the coach did not get a long and Caldwell wanted to go back home to NJ. This coach would not let him. Smart move.

The guy has the right perspective on what happened at the end of the match. I don't agree with what Caldwell did - and what Metcalf did was completely in line with what the coach said - he took off after him because there was still time on the clock and Metcalf will never quit on a match. It will be interesting to see if Metcalf changes his style and approach based on the outcome of this match. Caldwell did a great job, but Metcalf knows he did not wrestle well and allowed points to be scored that never should have been scored. Could be an epic re-match coming up - if Caldwell can hold his weight down to 145. If not, he'll get Schlatter next year - who I think will be the stud of the NCAA finals next year. Metcalf needs some time off - he is over-trained and the NC State coach alluded to that in the interview.

when you win your first national title and have the entire college wrestling community talk about how invincible this kid...........and how no one has a shot to beat him............i thought it was just a natural reaction of triumph....it was david vs goliath......caldwell proved about 98 percent of the ppl wrong. awesome performance stop the hating.

Caldwell wrestled nicely but you have to be a gracious champion as well like Steven Luke and all of the other 8 champions
