erik was winnig the match, when he got hurt. he tried to finish the match but could barely walk. the outcome would have been very different if he had not got hurt. i saw him last week he is in a cast for six weeks!
No excuses for Erik getting pinned in the first round at HS Nationals, because I know Erik himself, uses none. Erik did get hurt in that match very badly and I do believe there would have been a different outcome if he had not got hurt. I will not talk about the severity of the injury, but everyone is hoping Erik will not have to have surgery.
I do believe without that injury, Erik would have been the national champ at 130. Taking nothing away from the other kids that placed, I do believe Erik has reached another level this year. I'm very excited to see how high Erik can go in his future at Virginia Tech and in the International scene.
Id go with Grajales as well, Spjut got stuck in the first round, im sure Grajales and many more can beat him, including Goree from Oklahoma in which Texans have said all year no one from Oklahoma could touch Spjut
Hey Erik...I posted some photos of your finals match on flowrestling...Just search your name in PHOTOS. Congrats on a terrific High School career. Good luck at VT!
obviously you have no idea what you are talking about when you say erik isnt just going to start beating national champions. In order to win reno he had to beat luke goettl and louis trujillo who are both national champions. and as far as losing to the katy taylor kid, having to stop wrestling because of an injury isnt really losing to someone.
Stud said: I can tell he really improved from his stance, not. And im pretty sure i stated why i quit, and i like my school and im not gonna switch schools just to wrestle. But thanks for calling me a stud it was a nice compliment!
Make up all the excuses that you want. Your not there and he is. Dont you feel bad for quitting now? Too bad you dont have the heart to look past your coach and continue doing what you love. Because if you were truly passionate about wrestling, you would work your problems out with your coach and still be on the team. I guess youll never know what its like to be in Ryan's position.
tapout18 said: You quit wrestling, please dont talk, Ryan Klein is much improved over the past year and defintly EARNED his way to spjut, If your so good, then why did you quit or find a new school to really show Ryan Klein whos the boss. I guess you can just enjoy the finals from the side lines stud.

The injury default was to a Dallas area kid last year at the Woodlands. He bumped up to wrestle Sandoval who did not wrestle due to injury Erik was winning the match when injuried. He beat Kinsalla 7-0 at State last year.
Why does this conversation have to take place? Anyone who knows Erik would tell you he would not talk bad about another wrestler. It always seems someone has to try to belittle his accomplishments and some try to make them more then they are. Erik has not said he would beat another wrestler. He is confident and would wrestle anyone but I gaurentee you he hasn't posted on this site.
E fan said: Your an idoit Erik never has lost to anyone in the Houston area, and no one has even given him a close match!
First of all check the records he lost too him by injury default, and second of all he beat him at regionals by very few points, and then beat Isaac Kinsella by maybe a point or two, so i would consider that a close match...
your right it was the semis but really spjut is a beast and i never said he would beat either of those guys in fact he wont even wrestle them at nationals considering he is130 and they are both 135 but i promise you eric will place top 3 at nationals this year.
no said: i know spjut very well he the only loss he has ever had in texas is to sandoval at state freshman year and a enjury default his junior year. you will not find any results that say spjut lost to a katy taylor kid
He wrestled the match and stopped half way through because of his ankle, reguardless of it being injury or not, a loss is a loss.

re texas coach said: I wouldn't necessarily call him a quitter. I know the person and there were plenty of reason's to quit. New coaching issues had a lot to do with it yes, but other reason's too. Yes he did get pinned by spjut in the second period, but who hasn't . before we make names of quitters, look at Tommy Schober, just last year he decided to take a year off. He came back and placed top 4 at state this year. congrats, and good luck to spjut at Nationals
He to quit because of the coach, and Chad Gallatin quit HP because of the coach and then moved to Coppell after wards.
are you kidding me? said: spjut is a freaking beast! he only lost once to a texas kid and that was in the state finals his fresh year. you will see after nationals he will prove himself and texas wrestling.....
130 loser get off his nuts.
First of all he lost in the state semifinals, not the finals, and second of all he lost a kid for Katy Taylor last year, not positive of his name though. And who ever said that down below your correct Erik would never beat David Taylor or Eric Grajales, just because Erik walks through Texas state, and did very well by winning Reno, doesn't mean he's all of a sudden gonna go and defeat reigning National Champions, but keep of the work Erik your doing great and will get there one day, congratulations on a great senior year, and good luck at nationals.

erik is probably one of the hardest working people in the nation and im not exaggerating he takes every wrestler on no matter what theyre skill level with the same intensity for example he hardly goes anywhere in a car he just freakin runs from training session to training session like before school and then runs to school hes the definition of beast
There are some funny comments here and it shows a lot of people do not think before they speak. Erik is a great kid and is as hard of worker as you could ever find. To say he is a juicer is hilarious. He works hard to get where he is and has never taken any short cuts. This probably wouldn't even make Erik mad that it is being said about him, because he is so level headed. As far as beating someone like Grajales, who knows. The sky is the limit for both of these young men. We won't get to see that match in Virginia Beach, but hopefully sometime in college. Erik will make a very good collegiate wrestler. He is just so physically and mentally tough. As far 130 not being very tough, I think a lot of people moved away from Erik, but credit Klein for making it to the state finals. To the kid below that quit, looks like you made a huge mistake. I can for one tell you that Klein did improve a lot this year and at least he isn't a quitter. Good job both guys.
Spjut is obviously a good wrestler. You don't compile the kinds of accolades he has without being very good. But beating Grajales, come on now. First of all Grajales is 135 and Spjut is 130. A juice head like Spjut isn't going to bump up and beat the second ranked kid at 135. David Taylor will beat either of them. By the way, Spjut took 8th at the Super 32s. Three losses in one tourney. (Spjut lost to Sherlock, Lazor, and Dardanes) Zach Neibert, a 125 pounder and David Taylor's teammate, wrestled at 130 in that tourney and won it. Don't even think about a sauced up Texas boy like Spjut coming close to Grajales or Taylor.
Is this a joke how is Ryan Klein in the finals i quit wrestling this past year because i didnt see eye to eye with our new coach on virtually anything last year and refused to put up with him my senior year, but im curious how 130 got so weak because i majored Ryan my sopre year, and stuck him last year, and no neither one were flukes because i handled him around easily each time im just curious where the other decent wrestlers went that i know of could have been there over him, sorry if it seems like im taking credit away from Ryan...
Erik is freakin beast!! i was at the state tourny but i didnt even make it i was just there to film like a loser but i did have a chance to shake Eriks hand!!! woo hoo!
haha however good freaking job.
erik spjut fears only one man jeremy sandoval

that position would be underneath Erik Spjut
