yea who cares?? what the heck is up with you man...???? thats like saying...okay barack obama is black..so what..if he was white...he wouldnt have been the first black president in the history of the united states..just as dumb as what you said...do me a favor..dont post anything ever again unless it makes sense, and has some meaning. metcalf is one of the hardest workers in the sport, if not the hardest worker, and he achieved great success through hardwork. the same goes for any high level athlete. it is achieved through hard work. dont come on here, hiding behind a computer, and say "who cares" that is just a dumb statement. you my friend, are an imbecile

So what you are saying "Who Cares" is that if we take everything away from Metcalf that makes him Metcalf then he would not be Metcalf????? Got it and you my friend are Captain Obvious........

metcalf just wrestle hard and have decent technique but the only things he has is strength (at the higher level it dosent matter) and he is a lefty which throws most wrestlers off. if guys start grabbing his hands and stay in good head position (condition counts too) he would not be as dominate.

I've seen many, many wrestlers push eachother out of bounds at the college level and not be penalized. Metcalf was already pushing him as the ref was blowing the whistle, but it is pretty close so if the ref had penalized him a point I wouldn't have a problem with it. In reality, the only people really ing and moaning about this are people who are anti-Iowa or anti-Metcalf/Tom Brands. Get over it guys.

I dont think it was "classless" for metcalf to let him up in the third... he wanted to take him down to possibly get a turk or a better position to pin him. If he started neutral the takedown would have been a tech...and its obvious that pinning was his intention because thats what he did... and as for the push its wrestling not chess, its for tough guys not faries.

I dont think metcalf intended to push umd into the rail. Its common with good wrestlers to give their opponent a shove or something out of bounds. You can see a lot of people do it. It gets the other wrestler a little nervous. It wasnt unsportman like. Its wrestling. NOT basketball. its a rough sport.
and o yea, that trainer is a babe

Say what you want, the Brands Bros were real rough, but they were good fricken wrestlers. Metcalf is no different. He may be rough, but he is a dang good wrestler.

First of all, Metcalf didn't push him that hard. Second, Brands apologized. Third of all, Metcalf isn't Cael, so leave him out of it. Fourth, wrestling is a rough sport any way you hack it. It's not for little who whine and cry with every little push. Toughen up nancy.

I don't think Metcalf realized he was so close to the rail. It looks like Brands went out and said Metcalf was sorry for pushing him into the rail.

In my opinion, Brent Metcalf is next in line of the ELITE Iowa wrestlers who were not only FIERCE competitors but also those who wrestled with absolute abandonment and urgency for 7 straight minutes with an attacking/scoring style that was second to none (Barry Davis in early 1980s, Royce Alger in late 1980s, Tom/Terry Brands in early 1990s, Lincoln McIlravy in mid to late 90s, and now Brent Metcalf 2007-09). These afformentioned few separated themselves from the usual Hawkeye wrestlers by taking conditioning to an ultra-elite level and used a combination of brutality and relentless scoring styles to literally wear down high level opponents in a matter of a few minutes. (Cael Sanderson, Pat Santoro, and Andre Metzger could have fit this category although their styles were not brutal but they were using constant attacking/scoring styles no doubt).

These guys do not come along every year so just enjoy watching Brent Metcalf because the next elite Hawkeye to make this group may not come again for a number of years.

What keeps me up at night is thinking that the Ukrainian who dusted Schwabby off in short order in the Olympics would dust Metcalf in shorter order. How in the world can there actually be somebody out there better than this lunatic Metcalf??? And that is the thought that keeps me awake at night these days.

Taking top to cut the kid loose in the 3rd was absolutely classless. Combined with the push, Metcalf is not behaving with any dignity.

I don't want to see any more refs in awe of Metcalf. At around 2:33, Metcalf gets on and bumps Feholler ridiculously hard. Anyone else, and that's a caution. Refs need an attitude adjustment, and Metcalf needs a (far more serious) attitude adjustment.

The best was the look McCoy gave Brands.

The worst -- Metcalf's "intensity" outside the circle.

What a poor excuse for a ref. No balls to call Unspotsmanlike on Iowa? What a punk move. That wasn't bad ass, that was dumb ass.
BTW, never saw Cael Sanderson do that. Brands has no business on the mat when the other kid is using injury time, refs need to get in control of this bad behavior. Ref=punk
