Stop calling this move a cement mixer. you would grab the wrist reverse roll for cement job. this is called cow catcher..

To everybody who says this move is crap:
I agree. It's not that great of a move and you will not get very far with it against a good wrestler... BUT- there are times (no matter what level of competition you're wrestling at) when an opportunity to hit this move and get a fall will present its self. You shouldn't go out onto a mat looking specifically for this move, but take it if it's there. One of the most important principals of wrestling is to take what your opponent gives you, and that includes youth moves, even a barn yard.

P.S.- lighten up, they're teaching it to kids so that they can have fun.

This technique definately will work. Often times you can pull down on the elbow making them unprepared for punching through. This is a move that will work on all levels, but like any move, it wont work all the time.

It will take some high school coach 3 years to de-program this crap out of these kids. Unbelievable. If you guys are getting thin on techniques for Tuesday I can send you some tapes.
If you have to send tapes, then save it. The Cow Catcher is a solid fundamental move suitable for youngsters in the age group he is dealing with. And as some have said, this move works at all levels. If they learn it now, then this is something they will be able to keep in their tool box that they can pull out when ever they need it.

I like it Krause...And its not crap, its legit. It just isn't something you do in the first period...its something you do after you wear your opponent down, with heavy hands. One problem though, its called a Cement Job, not a cow catcher!

I didn't say Krause was a poor coach, he actually seems quite into it...and I like that. I coach a high level HS club and get kids coming all the time trying this crap. 90% of the time they end up on their own back. I actually agree with everything Krause said about the position until he showed this. We work the short drag and anchor to go behind. Once behind, our PT is so good we score lots.
Good Coach, I hear you on the going into the 3.4 times a match and having to be able to score in it and then going to the cow catcher as the "move". I would have gone with a left right snap to a double elbow control and spin to the right!. They dont go together but I went into it because it was a youth technique and the main thing I wanted to point out was the driving back over the ankles, like Metcalf did. I guess my brain skipped. Not any of my guys are hooked on this, in fact i dont think many hit it. But I dont think its crap. Krause

If anyone thinks the cement job is a horrible move to show wrestlers of any age, then they must not have watched much high-level wrestling. The cement job, when done right, works on all levels of the sport. Ever see Johnny Thompson, Tom Brands or Brent Metcalf wrestle? Then you've seen someone pinned in a cement job before. Anyone remember Rob Rohn hitting the cement mixer in the finals of the NCAA tournament for the fall? Headlocks, inside trips, lateral drops, cement jobs, etc., all work when done right and you will see them every year in the NCAA tournament. Wrestlers need to have some 5-point moves in their arsenal, especially when they're losing with short time on the clock. If you don't have some 5-point moves you can hit when you need them, you are severely limiting yourself as a wrestler.

Wow, I'm amazed that anyone can have a negative opinion of Krause. I guess its a free country. In regards to teaching kids headlocks and cow-catchers being bad...Krause qualified it by saying you need to give kids some moves to have success early. Besides, if you watch his technique sessions, he is teaching position first and the move second, which is the key to any young wrestler learning the sport correctly. If you teach a youngster position first, it doesn't matter what technique style they follow, because they will stay in good postion. Furthermore, why do you think that Technique Tuesday is a little watered down. Probably, to entice you to purchase the Technique Wave service. For those that don't like Technique Tuesday or Krause, or whatever, don't watch Flo. The rest of us will and get 1% better everyday. BRING IT!

First, Krause said "get your opponent kind of softened-up. He's pretty tired in the third period." This tells you right away that he knows this is not a bread-n-butter move.

Second, he does not teach the kids to get out of position to get this move.

Third, this is a possible match-ender.

To be clear Good Coach, you punish your wrestlers when they are able to tire their opponent out, stay in good position, and potentially pin their opponent. I consider this to be a low percentage move but the return on investment is high. I think that you should reevaluate your previous comments about this move. Reevaluate on 3. 1,2,3.....REEVALUATE

I heard him say something like dont rely on headlocks and other big moves that dont work at the higher levels but you need to give your kids "weapons" to use...and to drive backwards not across the body for bette technique. Sounds like you run a real fun youth practice...using intimidation to coach at an early age is a great idea! Keep it up!

Krause rules! But why is some lamo wearing a Cubs jersey in the back ground of Detroit CC's room? That's sin! Throw this B&C;on him!! B-bar & C-chin. Yet another name. I'd pull the head in a circle toward my hip, but this is a solid variation. Blast through the opponent. Mean. Good way to wrestle.

De-program? Become a "good" coach and work with what ya got! Freakin' whiner.

This move has many different names depending on where your from. I've heard it called: cement job, cow catcher, bulldog, all american, and a few others I can't remember. I don't think I've come across a move that has so many different names associated with it.

This is a Cement Mixer! I agree with Good Coach this is a terrible move to teach to kids. They have great success with this one move. Then they use it over and over and never learn how to wrestle. Then as the other kids mature they learn this is one of the easiest moves to defend. Then the kid that had all this success with this one move fail at wrestling and end up being much further behind!

I’m sure Metcalf has pinned college kids in this move as well but this is a move that you use when available like any other move just like when Metcalf got caught in a headlock. It turns my stomach when they teach a 6 yr old a headlock they ruin these kids forever! There is a time and place for every move. But I wouldn’t be teaching this to a bunch of peewee wrestlers!
I love Monday Dirty takedown and Technique Tuesday, disappointing today!
