i've seen brent upclose and personal. and yes he does have a personality and does laugh and let loose. we spent 5 days at an extreme camp in michigan with him. he is a beast and very focused. wish more young men were this focused. i spent 20 yrs. as an ARMY RANGER, and let me tell u; we would love to have 20 metcalf's...good luck brent..u have changed my son's attitude for the better. thanks again..go hawkeyes...
Keith Gavin deserved the OW at NCAA's not Metcalf. After all, Gavin was only scored on with escapes, most of which he let happen. Meanwhile metcalf gets taken down at will in the first period in the finals. What a crock. Metcalf better hope Bubba dont get some cardio, because if he does Metcalf wont like the way Metcalf is wrestling too much. Take that to the bank!!

I agree, man, Brent looks older, sheeesh. One time, I would like Brent respond to the first question of whether last year's success as NCAA Champ and Hodge Trophy winner changes anything this year. I would love to see Brent just one time have some fun with that question and say, "Yes, it changes everything, I am the Champion which means I am the best and I do not need to work hard anymore, no more tough practices, no more discipline, and no more listening to Coach Brands. As NCAA Champion, I now know I can just show up with my scary Iowa singlet and people will bow down to me!" Then he jumps up, throws his arms in the air, and runs around like he just won another title. That would be great instead of the usual, I am not good enough and have to keep working speeches, those are getting old.
yeah that interview right after he won the NCAA where talking about himself in 3rd person was a little scary he seams definatley seams more normal... maybee he got laid in the off season
metcalf seems very serious and hes obviously a very intense person. i wonder if he has any type of a social life and what he is like when hes not thinking about wrestling (if that ever happens).
Last season Brent came home as a national champion and outstanding wrestler at nationals, his team won the team title, and he was named as the Hodge trophy winner. He has still managed to find areas he wants to work on and has set new goals for this season. He also has some expectations of his teammates. October 9, 2008
