how was that a pin at 4:05? The red wrestler was in a neck bridge and both his shoulders were completely off the mat
He called the fall before he bridged up. I had to watch it a couple times to catch it but he was definitly pinned.

Abas got into a lot of shots versus Bartirov, but Abas didn't score a point; Bartirov was so darn good at counters.

2:17 is something Taylor Walsh (Nj State Champ) does regularly in matches and throws the leg in (he did it state finals last year, and im pretty sure again this year)...you think hes taken down and that leg comes out, over the top and in. i can easily see him doing something like that in freestyle.

Russians are 10x more counter-defensive than we are. We dont even approach their freestyle counters. Watched our Nationals on TV and it didnt even approach the counters and scoring opportunities created in this video. Our own nationals seemed more like a SLIGHT hybrid of our own folkstyle with a touch of freestyle added. Watch Abas's olympic match vs. Batirov. Just killing Batirov with shots then COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER loses by like 5-6.
The chain wrestling also is far beyond what our wrestlers do. THIS is mostly due to freestyle inexperience.
This is what happens when they get 50 matches/yr x 15yrs (750matches n TONS of practice and this is undershooting) and our wrestlers getting maybe 20 per season and almost never start freestyle until 10-11yrs old....so that sends our wrestlers in with not even 1/4 the experience....
As someone stated to me. The US is VERY focused on conditioning. Problem is they take a little break between periods, so it takes that out of the equasion. We will push push push and condition in practice where as their ENTIRE practice is technique technique technique.

The intense match at the end was Mavlet Batirov winning. The other match, I don't know who they were.

America could be like this. I see our style and it is not as fluid as the russians style of freestyle. I've thought about building and opening up a wrestling gym in our town. Open Everyday, damn near all day, FREE of charge, and open to the public. That is how it should be.

It was crazy, in fact, the whole trip was kind of crazy. I was very fresh with the job and was still in the learning process. It was mentally challenging and there were many barriers but the wrestling was so great that it was like an outlet. I was amazed during almost every match.
