okay martin short... First off, welch wrestled 2 ncaa nationally ranked wrestlers while at midlands and beat both of them. And secondly you put down 6 people and said it was your top 5.

jason welch is a great wrestler but if you watch him hes all over the place and a scrambler, which leaves openings for a great wrestler to take advantage of....scotty is a LOT tighter in his technique...i think scotty would beat him

how can you hate on this kid, he's a stud! He does say "ya know" 14 times, 9 of them have "what i mean" attached to the end. But I think this kid will have no problem with his college transition.

I cant blame welch for not showing up, seniors were in VIRGINIA, and he is from CALIFORNIA...as far as I know, they are on two different oceans. I don't fault him at all, his goal now shouldn't be to beat Winston, it should be to start training to become a 4x national champ. Lets get real

does block scheduling so all classes are 80 minutes. Weight training is a class here so why not take it. Free lefting and the class gets pretty intense can't beat it with a stick.

Now that all these great jersey kids (Esposito to Oklahoma St, Dubuque to Indiana, Hahn to Minnesota, Valenti to UPENN, Grey to Cornell) all decide to stay instate and go to Rutgers, wow, watch out for the scarlet knights. Martin, youve awakened a sleeping giant.

Lottman_x   April 1, 2008 at 9:51pm
A few points of clarification...Martin Short, your top 5 has six wrestlers, hmmm?? Winston over Welch, If Welch is surfing everyday, he must have droppe dout of school, he leaves almost 2 hours from the nearest waves and with traffic would never make it back to school in time. No doubt Winston is the real deal, but let's not talk out of the sides of our mouths. Good luck to both in what should prove to be a great college rivalry.

Winston just win Senior Nationals not WELCH. Stop talking about Welch, if he wanted Winston that bad and was that good he would of been here. Enough, Scott showed up, where was sideshow bob.

will never be unbeatable, he's a ben askren look a like want to be. who cares that he dominated California, Winston dominated in the NJ, PA, Ohio area the wrestling belt of the country. Welch isn't that good, Poeta tore through him as will many once he's in college.

Give Winston credit. He showed up and won. I still like Welch more. I feel he is a better all around wrestler. Winston is more power. Once Welch gains some strenth he'll be unbeatable in a few years. Howe will be a stud at Wisconsin.

Winston Over Welch   March 31, 2008 at 10:08pm
Say what you want but Winston would dominate side show bob look a like Welch. Welch is surfing in California while Winston is lifting every day and training for his national title. Winston will be better than Welch in college just watch.

Im tired of this crap- Welch never puts it on the line. He got the draw of the century at Midlands and was schooled when he met a good guy. Any of the top 5 in this weight could have duplicated his performance at Midlands with that draw. We will see if Welch puts it on the line at Fargo, my bet is he will not because of his track record.
My top 5:
Scott Winston
Andrew Howe
Jason Welch
Eric Cubberly
Conrad Polz
Steve Bosak
