Ok, first off, that is not my father. I don't c my father anymore ever since he got a tractor and made $300 dollars. Second, Thong-in myass or whatever your name is, you have insulted my family and it will not be tolerated. You obviously have pooped your pants many times, but that gives you no right to be a feeder! You suck gorilla nads all the way to the market where you buy condoms to eat as a spicy apetizer. If u watch the video I posted before u will c what I have to offer. Schlam......

Who is bringing anybody down? Commenting on a lose is bringing someone down? Nobody said they were bad wrestlers just that there are kids in MI that have beaten them. Nobody is being a sore loser about anything. Weber lost this match. People have to face it. Michigan placed better at Senior Nationals than Ohio did so Ohio fans need to face that. Ohio beat MI at Disney so MI needs to face that fact. They were close matches though and good competition. I'm not sure about the "can't be touched" part so you might want to step down from the high horse but as of now you guys are the kings of high school wrestling in my opinion.

Michigan people are sore losers Ohio won ok you can change the line up all you want it doesn't matter... Did you ever take the time to think that kids were hurt or just wrestled a bad tournament at Disney I'm sure you didn't instead you want to bring down kids like tank and magrum just cause they had a bad couple of matches SO WHAT its wrestling you win some and you lose some I would bet my house that if all these kids wrestled again in regular season and not in the summer it would be a different story OHIO WRESTLING CAN'T BE TOUCHED

I agree that Palmer would beat Weber. Ohio would win 103-119 without a doubt. MI would have 125. Not sure about 130. I think MI would win at 140 or 145. I'm also not sure on 152 but Michigan has three guys that beat Tank. If Burge went 160 I would put him for the W but it would be a cool match to see. Then I give Michigan wins at 171-285. I'm not sure where you get that Phillips would beat Bennet. His win over Roddy? Bennet was national champ. Not knocking Phillips at all I would just take Bennet.

All of you Ohio guys need to quit drinking your "were unbeatable" kool-aid. As shown at Disney Duals, Mangrum was 1-2 against Michigan kids. Suitor, Michigan's best 103, handed ranked Ty Mitch a 5-0 loss. So here is too you saying Steiber would pin him. lol. Kirk Tank, widely regarded as one of your top 152lbers went 1-2 against Michigan kids. After all of the folkstyle tournaments have been wrestled, this is how it would come down too...

103 Steiber dec. Suitor 3-0 Ohio
112 Taylor maj. Keselring 7-0 Ohio
119 Steiber maj. Rickard 11-0 Ohio
125 Stevens dec. Sergent 11-3 Ohio
130 Horner dec. Osterman 14-3 Ohio
135 Weber dec. Palmer14-6 Ohio
140 Morse dec. Spicel 14-9
145 Jordan dec. Thomas 17-9
152 Dong dec. Ortman 20-9
160 Burge dec. Cubberly 20-12
171 Bennett dec. Phillips 20-15 Ohio
189 Elsworth dec. Mangrum 20-18 Ohio
215 Dubose maj Scales 22-18 Michigan
285 Martin pin Hiles 28-18 Michigan
The only bias opinion on this match would be Weber over Palmer and I will hold true to it. Weber would beat Palmer. If you don't believe me, we will see in a few years when they wrestle in the Big Ten.

103- Andrew Brackins SR.( would have won SR nats if wrestled at 103, idiot)
112-Bryan Rickard ( wrestled 119 all year)
119- Cam Amateis Jr.
125- Zac Stevens SR.
130- Andrew Schutt JR
135- Mark Weber Sr
140 Jackson Morse Jr
145- Brian Hittle Sr
152- Jake Varilek Sr.
160- chris Eggert sr
171 Ben Bennet sr (Jake Burge also amazing)
189- Lj Helbig

Michigan also had good wrestlers not go to senior nationals. Its easy to claim what could have been but its much more difficult to actually get it done. I don't doubt Ohio is the toughest wrestling state though. This year Michigan was just the better at senior nationals. Also an unfortunate thing to think about is that Michigan doesn't have fr,so or jrs at nationals. Under MHSAA rules its not allowed.

Michigander   April 5, 2008 at 2:16pm
I will say that Ohio could easily come away with bonus points down below. but we would have two all-american at 112 and 119. so there is no way taylor would pin and steiber would pin. at the most majors. and yes, we would dominate you from 160 on up. if bennet had to pin, he would. he turned collins 2-3 times. marcel would stick any ohio guy and our heavyweight would major/pin any of you heavyweights. i am telling you. michigan would win in a fantasy match. now next year you guys would kill us. but michigan this year would beat ohio.

103- ohio 5-0
112- ohio 8-0
119- ohio 12-0
125- mi 12-3
130- ohio 15-3
135- ohio 18-3
140- mi 18-6
145- ohio 21-6
152- ohio 24-6
160- mi 24-9
171- mi 24-12
189- mi 24-15
215- mi 24-21
285- mi 24-25

and that is giving you the toss-up at 135 and us the toss-up at 140. we would more likely get a pin at 285. i really don't think our 103 would get teched. 2 x timer already. waldo isn't even the best 112 we have. good discussion. ohio is still head and heels over michigan right now. but we are gaining ground

Ziggy_x I will have to check that vid out. I know Collins and Burge beat Roddy and Bennett beat both of them so it would be interesting. It would also be intersting to see Burge wrestle Cubberly if Burge could make 160. Both were 3rd at nationals and Burge won the Super 32 and some other big tournaments. Thanks for you discussion and information without it getting heated like it tends to do on these boards.

Watch the Roddy, vs. Phillips video. Phillips absolutely dominated Roddy, and mind that that was the first week of his freshmen year. The score was like 7-3 (kickouts), but it looked like 10-0. Also, Ohio's 160, Cubberly got 3rd at Sr. nationals, and has beaten Winston from NJ (Yes Winston is probably better, but he didn't beat Cubberly the one time they met). Magrum is a top 10 nationally ranked 3x Ohio state champ and would have been top 3 easy at Sr. nationals.

Your honesty is appreciated and at least someone like you isn't being a jackass like the rest of us here.

103-119 would not be 9-0. Hunter won Ironman finals 11-2 against a TOP TEN ranked 103, and the Michigan 103 would not have been in the finals at Ironman. David Taylor would tech Waldo EASILY. Waldo is barely a top 25 wrestler, and Taylor has teched the 6th ranked wrestler. Logan Stieber is the only wrestler who could ever beat Taylor, and would easily stick Amaties. Logan pinned 2 kids in the top 18 at Ironman, and this would be no different.

103-119: Ohio 17-0

you must not know to much about the sport if you think a freshman would tech bennett, phillips got pinned by the 3rd best 171 in michigan, and bennett is head and shoulders above everyone at 171 in michigan.

Without doubt ohio would get bonus points at 112 and 119 with Taylor and Steiber. Taylor probley tech/pin and L Steiber with at least a major.

Michigander   April 4, 2008 at 11:00am
First of all, Phillips would be the 4th best 171 in Michigan. He got stuck in 31 seconds against Kam Jackson whom is considered the 3rd best in michigan. Ben Bennett would turn him and stick him easily. And Burge is way to strong. Phillips is a great wrestler, and will be one of the best heavyweight wrestlers that comes out of Ohio. But proof is in the numbers. Here is how I see it with no bias.
103-119. Ohio 9-0
125 Michigan 9-3
130-135 Ohio 15-3
140 Michigan 15-6
145-152 Ohio 21-6
160-285 Michigan 21-21

Now i can tell you that Michigan will get bonus points at 215-285 no doubt. But i can also see ohio gettting bonus points at 152. Other than that, I think Michigan would pull it out in a fantasy dual

michigan did have a pretty good year this year with the talent of their state champs but i would still have to say ohio is better, without a doubt.
1.)PA
2.)OH
3.)NJ
4.)CA
PA is definitely the best but OH and NJ is up for debate

Why are you people arguing about Michigan vs. Ohio? That is a joke, so don't waste your time. The only legit debate can be NJ vs. PA vs OH.

Ohio's state tourny is the weakest and NJ's is the strongest, but overall Ohio and PA have the best wrestlers. I'd say that OH is the most top heavy with names like Taylor, Palmer, Stieber, Phillips, who can beat anyone badly on any given day, but PA is so deep. I think that if OH, NJ, and PA wrestled EVERY wrestler in a single tournament, Ohio would have the most champs, PA would have the most placers and win it all, and NJ would clean up here and there.

Begold I wouldn't say they would get destroyed but I would put Ohio over Michigan. On paper it doesn't look like a blowout for Ohio. I think Ohio would take 103-119 without a doubt but the upper weights favor Michigan. 160-285 if Burge is at 160 would favor Michigan with maybe 189 being a tossup. I would also favor Michigan at 125 and 140.

Someone on here said "Somewhat scary to think how many Ohio wrestlers would be 4 timers in Michigan". Lets think about that statement. First off this is the result of one match and it wasn't in anyway a blowout. Second there is a reason Ohio has its depth. They have been more serious about wrestling for longer and put more effort into youth programs. If these Ohio kids had left Ohio they wouldn't have had that. Now Michigan is starting to become more competitive due to its growing youth programs. I think MI in the next few years should have more good showings like they did at this years Senior Nationals.

Michigander, let's do it right here right now. Give me Michigans 103-285 all star line up, and I will give you about 12-14 Ohio kids who will dominate them.

I'll give you a hint: Chase Skonieczny would not going to be the one wrestling Weber.

And then I will say to you once more, LOOK AT THE NATIONAL RANKINGS BUDDY...
Or are they just biased? Oh yeah that must be it. right.....

bucks513, Michigan doesn't have any kids that wrestle in the sophomore division. Under MHSAA rules Michigan athletes can't participate in nationa high school events. They can go to events like Fargo but none of the high school nationals. In doing so they would give up their eligibility. Thats why you will only see them in senior nationals. I'm pretty sure MI has sophomores that could do well at nationals if given the chance. There is a sophomore in MI that beat Weber this year.
