the only thing worse than someone getting ur name wrong its losing a match Chamberlain was real tough on his feet AVD real weak he should have got better on his feet wrestling Coulas, Kiss, Sics, Meditto,Falco,Lopes, but he dominates on top with a Crab just got Sloppy because he was crampin from Dehydration.

lets not get out of hand on teaching Winston but he is a great talent and should win High School Nationals next season. I think he will be going 140 next year and not 130.

Yeah But   April 11, 2008 at 4:02pm
he hasn't finished a season yet. 15 matches won't earn you a #1 ranking in the nation.. This year he will wrestle the full amount of matches which will end with a state title. He is going to wrestle in Junior Nationals next year which will give Nick great exposture. Good Luck Nick and Keep it Going!!

Great Kid   April 11, 2008 at 3:59pm
gotta love Nick Venditto.... raw talent and has insane potential.. his head down double is nice but he has great funk. He rides with two legs which is something that is truely special by Nick. When he beat Chamberlain in the Summer of last year I knew if he would finish a full season that he would end up being ranked 1st in the nation.

I once had to wrestle this Venditto kid. His talent and natural ability is just amazing. He used his double and repeatedly took me down at will. Then in the second period he chose top and from there i was done. His leg ride is like no other, I could do nothing because of his great leg ride and he put me right to my back. IT WAS LIKE NO OTHER. After the match with him i think his talent rubbed off on to me because I dominated van dunk after that match. truly inspiring kid. Thanks NICK

nick venditto from nj has incredible talent. I was lucky enough to see him wrestle courts at camp over the summer, Great Match. He used his double on his feet and his incredible leg ride to win the match.its ashame that he got hurt this year and his grades were low. I once saw him teaching Scott Winston his double and his Great leg ride. GREAT KID

I watched the entire match ALL 3 PERIODS of A%% kicking by Chamberlain. AVD rode him moderately well but in the end he didn't get it done. Getting robbed is losing a call...NOT LOSING 2 PERIODS!...his ride isn't that good either.

obviously you didn'y watch the match.. Van Dunk won this match and got robbed because of a sluggish 2 periods. He dominated every match other than 2 periods in the entire torunament. This AVD(Andrew Van Dunk) is a great scrambler, an unbelievable top ride, and probably the slickest wrestler that wrestled in Senior Nationals. Should be tough to beat when he gets to college

that move that you guys have been talking about as being a "JV move" from AVD is a very technical BJJ move, which he has been very successful with in the past, including his quarterfinal match. Not the kind of move to try on somebody as strong and smart as Chamberlain though.

This is the real Andrew Van Dunk, and Chamberlain was a tough opponent. I would never say that he could beat me on my feet. He was a great opponent, and I'm better on top then he is. Chamberlain is great though, I'm better than anyone in PA at least, 3rd in the region, 3rd in the state, 3rd in the country. GO NJ!!!

van dyk is a great wrestler but the only way i see him winning this is by turning chamb and getting backs or pinning him. obviously those are doubtful to happen because chamb is a beast. van dyk showed how good he was by plaing 3rd but no way he wins in neutral chamberlain was just too solid on his feet. best of luck to both in the future.

This is Andrew Van Dyk. I have nothing to do with the ppl posting that i should have won that match b/c i clearly didnt hah Chamberlain kept most of the match on our feet by cutting me and picking neutral and thats how he beat me. He beat me on my feet he tired me out with his hand fighting and i didnt keep up with his pace. I hope to wrestle him again b/c there would be a lot of things I would change. But hes a great wrestler and def. lives up to his name.

I don't know what all the chatter is about. chamberlain dominated for most of the match and was never in trouble. Van Dyke's ponts were all gifts. And Chamberlain almost took him down 3 or 4 more times where they went off mat. If these guys wrestled 10 times Chamberlain would win 9. Van Dyke is a leach on top and can turn many people I am sure. But not a good wrestler. That score could have been much much worse.

You think VD was even in the match? You people are on drugs. Chamberlain was NEVER in any trouble. What match did you watch? Looks to me like VD had one move on top and it didn't even work. Chamberlain still got the reversal. How many points did VD score on top? Hmmmmm, I believe it was ZERO! 3 points and Chamberlain gave him 2 of them. 11-3 is not a match. Chamberlain kicked his butt.

What?!   April 2, 2008 at 11:12pm
last I checked you only got ONE POINT in college for riding time. Go ahead give Van Dyk 1 point for riding time, he still loses 11-4. Chamberlain dominated, so what if he was held down for 90 seconds, van dyk didn't score any points or even come close to scoring points AND he gave up a stalling point! Chamberlain would beat him worse if they wrestled again hands down end of argument. If you want to argue something go to a different board because there is nothing to argue here. Chamberlain was the best.

The score was 11-3! You can not win if you do not score!
Van Dyk did not score in the third period. The third period
showed us that Van Dyk can ride, not turn, not score. No offense
but anyone who says that VD should have won, or is a better wrestler
is a moron.
Is Bubba Jenkins better than Metcalf because he took him down twice?
No!
Is this jersey kid better than Chamberlain because he rode him for 90 seconds?
No!

I agree with you on several things, Vixiimm, and disagree with a couple others but you have two items right. Takedowns score points, and score them first, scoring first and CONTINUING TO SCORE WINS MATCHES!!!

You are right about where Chamberlain comes from as far as how he is viewed. I think many repect him but he doesn't get the OOOOOOOOOOOHHH WOOOOOOOOOW he is a stud comments that say J. Oliver gets and they both put on a show at NHSCA's.

AVD is decent but I think there are a few out here that would tune him up...

Vixiim_x   April 2, 2008 at 10:12am
I'm not sure what you people are talking about. To say that Van Dyk is the better wrestler is ludicrous. In case you were missing something, the kid got majored, he scored 1 escape that he actually did anything for, the rest were given to him by Chamberlain. I'll admit, Van Dyk is probably better than Edwards, and if he were on the other side of the bracket probably would have been dismantled with more people watching. Van Dyk is a stud, a very good wrestler, the way I can tell this is that Chamberlain had to actually work something other than a snap-down and go behind to take him down. He actually had to shoot, and finish, so kudos to VD. To those who are lauding his leeching ability, and touting him as a threat to an NCAA title, WAKE UP! In college he would have scored 5 points in the match, one for riding time, and 1 more for an escape after Chamberlain got the take down when he stepped out while finishing. so the score would have been 15-5. Still a major, and still ugly. I'm not sure how wrestling is evaluated where you are from, but there aren't any bonus points for being leechy, and riding tough on top only wins matches if you can actually turn your opponent. How many near fall counts did he get in that "dominating" third period? None. Take downs don't win matches, neither does tough riding, scoring points wins matches, and getting straight schooled on you feet and taken down and then cut and taken down again and then cut ad nauseum in no way constitutes "getting caught."
Imagine for a second the cred that Jason Chamberlain would be getting if instead of (UT) after his name it said (NJ), (NY), (PA), or (OH). What names would he be compared to, what expectations/speculations would there be going into College?
