Your right EC149. Sorry about that. My bad. It was Smith;CMU, that Novak;EMU, beat to go to the finals.

Actually, final Intermat rankings don't have Smith or Beebe in the top twenty, they are no different than Novak.

You guys are arguing about two wrestlers that are in different weight classes. Novak is 125, Beebe is 133. The issue is taking Smith over Novak, not Beebe.

Well if thats true about "Beebe being a better and more experience wrestler" wrote by (more of the facts). Then I guess you can say Novak must have prepared and trained better than Beebe to have beat him to get to the finals of the MAC.
Anyway you look at it, a loss is a loss, and the best man won that day.

Look at who Beebe wrestled this year! Has has wrestled the Iowa St's and Min. and Mich. and a whole list of Ranked wrestlers and teams this season. He has wrestled much much better comp. then what Novak came close to wrestling. Beebe is not only a better wrestler but also is much more experience in wrestling at the level of the NCAA's

The Facts   March 12, 2008 at 9:26am
smith was in the round of 12 as both a freshman and sophmore, so those years he won 3 matches each, so he went 3-2, 3-2, and 1-2 at ncaas so far. so 7-6. and there might be a pig tail win in there too to bring it to 8 wins in 3 years.

How many matches has Smith won at nationals? And how many years has he went? I think 1-2 at nationals is the best Smith has ever wrestled. No way should they take a 3rd place finisher and not take the runner-up.

Both true freshmen that could make some big noise in the future. I too can't believe you get a wild card for taking 3rd in the MAC. Why did Smith even have to wrestle if they were going to let him in to the NCAA any way. First time since I've been following the MAC that a 3rd get's a wild card and the guy who beat him gets left home. What kind of criteria is this. I see Smith 1-2 at Nat'l so why not let a Freshmen get the experience for the future.

Conner Beebe from Central took third place and he got a wild card bid. His record wasn't much better than Novak's. Novak beat a ranked wrester to get into the finals. He should have got a wild card bid.
