5aw5omething ur analogy of junk wrestling is ridiculous. first off, jordan oliver is a beast and wil be attending okie state. losing to him is not the end of the world. second, valenti's only loss in sr natls was to oliver, he took 3rd in the tourn. he had a great state tourn as well as sr natl tourn. great defense is boring to watch, but affective. shouldnt trash this kid.dont tell he hasnt wrestled some of the best in the nation.

Trause and Dabal have been wrestling each other since grade school, you big dip. If Valenti's tactics are "just smart wrestling" why didn't it work against Jordan Oliver at Senior Nationals? Because it's junk wrestling, thats why. Stall your off all you want, when you meet up with someone who can wrestle, it doesn't matter, you're going to get handled. Learn some technique, it's not too late.

to living in the past dabal and trause are not in the same district or even region they might have faced in a tournament at the BCCA when they were both ligher im thinking like 103 or 112 but they never faced each other before that

Trumbetti graduated last year dumb ass, he's not in high school anymore. Trause was already beaten by Dabal in county finals in the past. Nobody knows what will happen in the future. Idle speculation is meaningless. That's why they step out on the mat in front of everyone and lay it on the line. Something you've obviously never done.

Valenti did not score. Dabal let him up and gave him a point. That was a colossal blunder. Great coaching (not). Now Dabal has to score and Valenti has to stall. Dabal didn't score. By the way, 2nd period there were no tilt attempts, Valenti rode legs the whole period and only legs. The kid wrestles for the stalemate not the score. Can't blame him when the refs reward this type of wrestling. Valenti wrestled like crap and Dabal wrestled like runny crap. If you think that was "great wrestling" you need to get your head out of your own backside.

Valenti wrestled a great match.
He rode him hard,
Picked down for last period. If Dabal was so good, he should of scored his own points. Valenti bashers are lame. Sour Grapes.

I'm not knocking Valenti, he did what he had to do...It is up to the ref to keep the match on the offensive...and if a wrestler works in the 2nd period does that mean he can't be stalling in the third??

How do you guys think guys like:

Trause
Trumbette
Kircher

would do against these guys if they moved up

anyone who thinks this isn't stalling doesn't know wrestling. zero shots to i don't know how many. didn't score 1 point because of something he did. unfortunately, the match should have been put into overtime to them wrestle it out. Can't take anything away from valenti, he had a game plan the entire tourny and it worked.

just smart wrestling!! Valenti won that match in the second period. He was agressive and wore down Dabal. In first period Valenti should have gotten 2 when Dabal was sitting on his butt holding on. Dabal had to shoot in the 3rd bc he was losing. Valenti had to avoid a mistake, and he did, well Done Derek, YOU EARNED IT!!!! VALENTI STATE CHAMP!!!

I just watched this match again, I saw Valenti trying for a tilt the whole second period, and Dabal call time out to get a breather, cmon, who was stalling????

ok, right? Valenti stalled, and Dabal scored no points, that makes sense! What would have been a good score for you, and if Dabal wins 1-0 did he stall the whole match. Great wrestling by Derek! Valenti, STATE CHAMP!!!!!!

Valenti stalled the whole last period and the refs let him get away with it. Terrible officiating. The kid did not take one shot the whole match. Dabal cutting him early in the third was a mistake. Should have rode him and wore him down. Make him earn that escape point. Coaching and officiating both on the decline. Wrestling is not what it used to be. New rules have been implemented to stop this type of BS wrestling, but the refs have to make the calls. Very disappointed with the whole weekend.
