i love mark grey, he is a phenomenal wrestler... but kraisser came to win. mark went into defense mode right when he got 2. but the crowd is against grey and thats wrong.. grey is a great wrestler and nothing should be taking away from him. great match on both kids.. you will see grey as a national champ in college no doubt in my mind
grey shmay....enough about him.......the real question is where will this tuff Kraisser kid be going to high school? Public or private? I know Maryland has Mount St Joe (where Mack Lewnes went)and mcdonogh. Anybody know?
Ya'll are such haters. first of all how many of you are 8x national champs. Everyone seems to hate someone who wins alot. This kid he wrestled had no pressure on him. He wasn't expected to win. also, i saw someone write that he kicked greys ass? How is tied with 1:09 to go and then getting a takedown with 13 secs to go...from an almost stalemate position getting his ass kicked. Kraisser looked good. So did grey. That first take down by grey was text book. I give them both props. Y'all should step back because you know you will be hearing about mark greay for many years to come. His brother says Mark is better than he was and his brother is ranked 2nd in nation div I as a college freshman. We should be proud to have these guys wrestling for us. I hope they go to olympics someday and kick ass.
why you guys ****holes to the kid? 8 tulsa championships is one hell of an acomplsiment. i was in his brakcet for Tulsa nationals, and he wrestles damn good! Everyone's beatable, even Kraisser. and a bet the shayne tucker is too. so screw off and give him a break!

grey didnt cut that much weight he qualified for my state torny at 95 lbs and he wrestled 89 here. Kraisser beat him. Thats all to be said. He lost. Hes not a national champ.
Back in 1978, when I wrestled Tulsa (made to the second round, bad-ass me), many wresters entered in two weight classes (eg., 78 and 81) in case they couldn't make the lighter weight. They cut back then and they take way more seriously now.
he might have cut all the weight but he 2 days to recover. they weigh in on thursday but wrestle on friday and saturday. other than that roller shouldnt have stopped all the matches. but the way i look at it, that loss will make grey that much more tougher. tulsa nationals is a big youth tournament but you dont get recruited for winning it, it all starts in high school.
Omaha,
That was the stupid, Roller was giving credit to grey. Everything Roller does is for the kids Grey was expected to win. The problem is that grey cut to much weight and was gassed. Rumor was that he cut 20 llbs. And thats why everyone cheered when he lost. It would mean alot more had he wrestled his own weight class.
but anyway mark grey and nathan kraisser are both great wrestlers I wanted mark grey to win so hed be in the lead with most tulsa nationals wins they should have never stoped all of the matches that knocked of both of thier concertration at one point
Not All Kids Cut Weight January 24, 2008 at 9:42am
This is to the people that have said "most kids cut for this tournament" or "who in the sport of wrestling doesn't cut weight?" This is not directed at Mark or Nathan.
Well, not all of the kids cut weight, so don't imply that they do. I can't believe the amount of weight some kids do cut, and Roller just encourages it by having weigh-ins Thursday afternoon for a Friday and Saturday tournament. These kids should have to weigh-in for both days of wrestling. Kids cutting 10% or more of their weight at this age is ridiculous, but that is just my opinion. Now if kids want to cut weight, that is their choice, but make them make weight for both days of wrestling. Not all of the kids cut weight, so don't imply that they all do. There are some that don't cut any weight at all and they still do pretty well.
dont bash these kids let them wrestle and have fun...thats what its about if you cant remember that go to a weekend freestyle tourny to refresh your memory
hard fought match i don't know about the call mark is one of the best wrestlers to come out of pascack hills wrestling program. I am sick of all the bs about mark cutting weight , How do you know are you at practice with the kid when he is training 7 days a week. people are always so quick to bash the greys. This had happened to mike also and where is he now? Ranked third in the country as a freshman. Rich Santoli runs a great program, the best in the nation every year. So why don't you fat ass father's get off the computer and go to work?-paco
I have no dog in this fight, but what impresses me most is how both of these kids position themselves like college kids. I haven't watched age group competition at this age in years, but these kids really got after one another and it looked like an actual wrestling match. Not what I would have expected from kids.
Compliments to two great young men; supportive families; excellent training; and the opportunity to compete. All those who prepared for this competition are winners--what a positive way to utilize your time!
I guess Santoli's boy couldn't get it done this time. It truly is sad that everyone roots against them. Its not because of the Iowa Gable "too good thing", but because of the "PH attitude thing" You saw it at the end of this match. Who was at 95 Div V?
Those Pascack Hills guys try to work a referee like no one else I've ever seen. Good to see the Whiners lose one. Best part is no argument can be made.
hard fought match! on greys part once he got the lead he wrestled not to lose instead of offensive like the 1st period. You wrestle not to lose most times you will lose!
Roller had nothing to do with that match. The announcers wanted to do it that way. Jack told them they had to make sure it was ok with both parents. They said great. Grey has been in the spotlight like that efore. Last year they did almost the same thing and Shane Roller met him off the mat shook his hand and got a picture with him. This has nothing todo with Roller, Shane or anything else. They both wrestled a great match with Nathan on top. Mark should have stayed at 95. They wanted an edge so they cut him down. Always in the end it bites you in the arse. Cream floats to the top
another big win for the kraisser wrestling army, anyone ever think that kraisser is the better conditioned of the two because kolat has them working their tails off in that room, not because greys cutting too much weight...
Sounds like there are alot of jealous people, I don't know either one of the wrestlers, but they both wrestled one hell of a match. Wrestling does not need this type of negative talk my hats off to both!!!
Grey's Coaches & parents should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this fine young man to cut so much weight. I don't care if his mother is pediatrician of the year, it just plain wrong for kids this young to be cutting weingt. If Grey is THAT good, then let him wrestle at the weight he feels the strongest, everything will work out just fine in the end. But having the Grey cut weight, his coaches & parents are basically saying that they know he isn't as good as everyone else thinks he is. I feel bad for Grey, he had no endurance to last the 3rd period when Kraisser poured it on. Grey is good, but on that day, Kraisser was better. Maybe his coaches & parents will learn a valuable lesson from this- somehow, I doubt it.
grey looked like he was gassing and kraisser took advantage of it and pushed him the whole match and never seemed like he was tired. i think his conditioning won this match as grey seemed to be gassed and kraisser kept pushing the action the whole match. it still was a great match to watch and both kids looked very tough.
Cutting weight is a part of wrestling and it doesnt matter that they stopped all the matches a good wrestler wouldnt be affected by the pressure but all the people who bood against him was uncalled for mark grey did a heck of a job
Who in the sport of wrestling doesnt cut weight. The kids 14 years old so i truelly beleive that he's not the one behind all the weight cutting. His coaches are the ones to blame for this not Mark himself.
Marks a great person and wrestler and will bounce back. Hats off to Nathan.
Grey...not bad for a kid who is suposed to be a sophomore in High School. Mom - maybe you should hold him back for a third year for a shot at 9x Tulsa champ.
Great Job Nathan! How ironic Grey goes down cause he knows he can't win at 95. He cuts even more to go down and still loses!!. Nathan was BIG TOO but Was glad to take some air out of Grey.
I Proudly lost to Grey and then on the backside to a reno champion grey is not strong im guessing it is because he cut 15 pounds at weigh ins he couldn't talk because he was so dehydrated
the reason grey lost is because roller got into his head by stopping all of the matches and having evryone watch marks match. he wanted to put pressure on him because he didnt want him to beat his sons record
grey's brother mike wrestles for cornell at 133 so he hasnt put on that much weight. idk who in mark's corner you thought was mike but none of those guys were.
Mark Grey goes for a record setting win at Tulsa Nationals. With a win in this match he would set a new record for consecutive Tulsa National Championships. Nathan Kraisser however will not just roll over for Mark Grey November 30, 2007 Level: youth Weight Class: 89 lbs
ive beat both of these kids at holiday duals

weighs more than 15 year old froshmore Grey
he wont do good in high school unless he cuts to 103 all four years.
he already has 4 losses this season
Well, not all of the kids cut weight, so don't imply that they do. Great match though.
Marks a great person and wrestler and will bounce back. Hats off to Nathan.
