A national dual team tournament composed of college club teams. Teams include. Lafayette College, Vanderbilt University, Tennessee Temple University, University of Maryland / Baltimore County, University of Florida, Kennesaw State University, University of Southern Indiana, University of Dayton, Auburn University, Lee University, University of Colorado - Boulder, Mercer University, Grand Valley State University, Northwest Missouri State University, Bowling Green State University, The Apprentice School, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech University, West Texas A&M, Oakland University, University of Connecticut, University of Texas at Arlington, Louisiana State University, Marion Military Institute, University of Central Florida, Middle Tennessee State University.

NCWA National Duals Championship To Award The Collegiate Cup

The Inaugural issue of the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Duals Championship Tournament will be contested this weekend January 30th and 31st at Middle Tennessee State University.
The 2 Day event will Crown the 2009 NCWA Dual Team Champion with the newly designed four and a half foot traveling trophy christened the "Collegiate Cup". This years national event will consist of twenty teams invited based upon last seasons performance, returning All-Americans and overall 2008-09 line up strengths.
Perennial Power house Grand Valley State University (GVSU) enters this Saturdays matches with a strong overall roster led by Senior All-Americans Richard Doherty and Joe Kuzmick. Senior and 2 time National Champion Joe Mendez is Questionable in the line up as this weekend approaches but GVSU's otherwise solid roster looks to put them in the drivers seat against their challengers regardless of the Mendoza factor.
Dark Horse Contenders, University of Central Florida and Marion Military Institute could both cause trouble for Grand Valley with solid rosters and some returning All-Americans of their own. Other teams with a shot at the title include Oakland University, University of Maryland Baltimore County and The Apprentice School. Teams that made the early cut to get into the Tournament Include: Bowling Green State, Kansas State, Louisiana State, Mercer University, Ohio University, and Host, Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Adding to these twelve teams, eight colleges will battle for the four remain slots on Friday at the Friday Free-For-All. The Free-for-all will begin at 2:00 running on four mats. Teams included in the free-for-all qualifier are: Auburn University, Lee University, Miami University, Southern Virginia University, Tennessee Temple University, University of Dayton, University of Southern Indiana, and University of Toledo.
Tickets for Friday's Event will be available at the door of the MTSU Recreation Center for \$5.00, while Saturday admission is \$20 for Adults and \$10 for Students. Wrestling begins on Saturday at 9:30.
There will be five rounds of dual action on eight mats to crown an eventual champion. That Champion team will be awarded the Traveling 4 foot Collegiate Cup Trophy to display at their institution this year.
