The University of Missouri travels up to Ithaca New York to Battle The Big Red. We will visit the 7th ranked Missouri Tigers and travel with them to the dual. This dual will contain many great matchups and keep you on the edge of your computer chair.
GS Bones, you're right. I KNOW Lewnes is the real deal--he's awesome. It's just that Marable has his number. That could change the next time they meet, I'm aware of that. As far as Nick's style, yes it can be frustrating to watch. I love an action-packed barn burner of a match, but you have to go with what works and wrestle your style. Nick and Mack could both be the champ this year, or even a couple other people, and that's why we wrestle the matches. But I'm a Mizzou fan and I'm gonna root for our guy whether he's stalling or not :). Peace.
I wouldn't call th heavyweight match an upset the Mizzou wrestler was better he can wrestle with mark ellis the #2 guy in the country Cornell is a good team but so is Mizzou
It wasn't an upset the mizzou heavyweight was a better wrestler he is as good as Ellis the #2 wrestler in the nation for Mizzou Mizzou outwrestled them
Missou earned the win today in a close and well wrestled match. As a wrestler and avid fan, it was one of those afternoons that speaks well for the sport. But I must say, having watched Marable wrestle more times than I can count, he is the absolute and unmatched master of NOT wrestling. For the most part (not all, but most), his shots were very well defended by Bastings who actually wrestled him well. Marable controls the center of the mat, and has mastered making it LOOK like he is doing something at the edge of the mat, pushing his opponent out, never risking being scored on. It was extremely frustrating and even infuriating to see that, yet again, he was not called for stalling. He NEVER gets called for stalling. He never scores offensively. And he never gets nailed for stalling, no matter who he wrestles. He gets props for scoring points enough to win, often. But let's admit it, all of his points are scored by countering (admittedly, a talent in itself). But he never takes it to his opponent. He is very difficult to score on, for sure. The sport is better served by the type of wrestling seen in the already posted matches (125, 133, 141) and the soon to be seen/posted matches at all the other weights except HWT.
Congrats to FLO for doing another fantastic job of promoting our great sport and doing it in A+ fashion. I had a chance to chat briefly with Joe after the match. First class guy, as are all the FLO team members. Thanks FLO for creating such a great outlet for this great sport and for allowing those of us who love wrestling to be able to enjoy great competition from the comfort of our homes, while football and basketball get all the glory and advertising money.
A+++ to FLO!
PS- to "Not Really" say what you will. Lewnes is the real deal, is one of the best wrestlers in the NCAA and a complete first class competitor and person. And HE is willing to score, win and show great sportsmanship at all times.
If Cornell would have had Lewnes, he would have lost 3-2 like he has every time he's faced Marable. Mizzou still would have gotten 3 team points. No difference :).
Was able to catch the text results by period on the Cornell site. It came down to the heavyweight and Bradley upset Hammond 1-0. Too bad -- I like seeing an Ivy League team at #2. They will drop a bit in the polls.
