News & Updates

A giant 62 team tournament held at Walsh Jesuit with tons of top 10 schools and wrestlers. This year will be interesting to say the least. Last year St Paris Graham upended Blair Academy and won the High School National Championship polls out right because of the Ironman Tournament. Usually there is the Ironman and a dual meet to determine the winner of the prestigious High School National Champions award. This year we could face the same scenario as St Paris Graham and Blair Academy again will square off at the Ironman but there is no dual meet as of yet planned. The tournament will be especially tough at the middle and lighter weights. There is a lot of history with the Ironman. Flowrestling covered it last year and we are proud to cover it again this year. Some history at Walsh for the Ironman include when Brandon Florida came in in 2003. Blair for many years had a string of wins at the Ironman but that was changed by St Eds in 2006. St Eds backed it up with a dramatic and legendary dual meet victory. For 2008 Blair got the preseason number 1 ranking but St Paris Graham has reloaded and is hot on Blairs trail for a number one spot for the second year in a row. When it comes to the different weight classes heavy three weight classes: 189, 215 and 285 are a little weak according to Tournament Director Bob Pruesse. However weights like 135, 140 and 145 are going to be insane! At 171 we will have a really special treat with the number 2, Lofthouse will be ready to square up against #1 Chris Phillips. So get ready because we will be covering the walsh ironman for the second straight year!!!!!!

#70	Gellin December 12, 2008 at 9:58am I have to agree with Phillipsboy. The "flo fellas" have been craving Phillips' man juice since he won 07 Ironman and there is no way that they would post it. I would have to guess they were front and center for that match as it was the most anticipated of the weekend. Phillips probably promised to let the guys wear the green shoes for the rest of the weekend if they didnt post the match. reply
